What if the burner head gets too hot for one reason or another.
For example boiler body too small compared to the power of the burner.
Or, a part is missing which should protect the nozzle from the heat.
Or the fan that does not blow enough, and causes heating.
Or, partially blocked chimney.

It would not explain the dirt found in the pump itself ...

You're right, anyway, to blacken fuel oil, it should be heated very hard, and in the presence of air.

Another idea: a part that deteriorates in the pump.
But that doesn't kill the pump.

Piklic, if you happen to live in Belgium, I can lend you a blue flame burner, just to know if the burner is messing around, or if the oil is polluted.

I have already had this, there was a mess of particles after filtering on a water circuit. We changed everything, filters, filter support, valves, made X disassemblies without finding anything etc ..... and it was the "stainless steel" pump (sold for) which had an internal steel sleeve which slowly disintegrated .... : Shock: : Evil: This one, it cost a lot in stopping production ..... : Mrgreen:

Yeah but we are dealing with a fuel burner pump..There are not 50 manufacturing. The only rubber parts are the seal spy (or the lining) and the possible solenoid valve membrane and these parts are of course compatible with fuel oil (and even I make them pump stuff not possible) and he would not find any black in the pump filter ... Because it is directly at the inlet ...

That's why I thought of hoses ...

To try: turn the two hoses and connect with the tricoclair (transparent reinforced pvc pipes) it takes a few years without worries ... and do the autopsy of a flexible ...
