Temperature difference between floors

by dodo » 17/10/11, 21:40

Hello,

here after reflection I had decided to start my thermal renovation by changing the bottom windows.

I wonder if I am doing well because currently I still have 2 degrees more than on the 1st floor, certainly it is still very mild.

since the heat rises is what I should not have a temperature higher than the 1st.

With almost no heating, the solar heat supplied is proportional to the area of windows in the sun and therefore if there is more on the ground floor, this can explain ???

It also depends on the insulation of the roof spaces and thermal leaks.
If the roof is poorly insulated, during the day the tiles are heated by the sun, and at night they cool strongly in good weather by infrared radiation towards the clear sky !!

So this difference in T can be reversed between day and night, to be measured !! high hotter during the day and colder at night ???

Air leaks from the windows can cool the top ???

Cooking or bathing downstairs is enough to heat downstairs also in mild weather ???
????????

Thermal convection has a thermal difference threshold to start and therefore 2 degrees is quite low.

In my opinion, it is also a question of orientation, rate of use of parts and aesthetics.
Generally, we do one facade at a time for aesthetic reasons: not sure that you will find the same chassis in 5 years. Their eventual tarnishing will also be different.

We most often start with the north facade, which is more exposed or the facade whose wooden frames were + exposed to the rain. (south or west)

We can also start by isolating the most used parts

indeed there are far fewer windows at the top.
yes in the attic and especially I think of the crawling insulation is not top.

I would measure in broad daylight to see.
