Design cladding on mud house

by Aurel38 » 06/02/12, 11:44

Hello !

North side, I would like to put a siding to block this cool air see cold at the moment which passes behind my back in the evening while I look at the TV :)

After some research, I have 2 speeches:

The first: screwed battens, then 20 or 30 mm wood wool between battens, then rain barrier then cladding.

The second: Screwed battens, then 20 or 30 mm wood wool between battens, then rain shield then re-battings then cladding .....

What do I do now ?? I need help !

Merci ....

Hi, a small note, with 2 or 3 cm of insulation, you will not insulate much.

can't you go more frankly on this aspect?

Thank you for your answer.

Inside, I have 5 to 10 cm of lime / hemp, I thought above all that the 20 mm of wood would isolate me, plus the 40 mm of hemp!

Regarding the rain shield and the famous air gap, what do you think?

Merki :)

The air gap is compulsory between the cladding and the rain screen.

In order to use standard dimensions I recommend 20 * 27mm battens.

I agree with Antoinet111, 30mm of insulation is not enough, it must be triple.

Be careful that the insulation is well pressed against the wall so that there is no air between the wall and the insulation, which:
- would reduce the isolation effort to zero
- prevent the migration of water vapor and cause disorder.

As the wall should not be straight, the panels should be "coated" with a mixture of earth / lime before pressing them against the wall.

Here is a real insulation solution at a stroke:

you can apply the method without the structural side of the technique
