Hello ,
our chimney with terracotta terracotta, which with time was damaged, in addition to these there was a stainless steel hat which was destroyed.
it would therefore be necessary to replace the mitrons, and the hats,
my question will be about the mitrons,
these are made of terracotta, are hard to find, and seem to cost a fortune
can earthen terracotta buns be replaced by a pot of terracotta flower, the bottom of which would be cut?
ou
Are the mitrons made with special ingredients which forces us to pay a high price?
please
a+

If you manage to cut the bottom without breaking it, at worst it will break in the first winter with frost, but as that will have cost you the price of a flower pot you will not have lost much (apart from a little bit of hardly) and you will be fixed.
Hopefully it will last a few years and you will have a nice economy!

Good evening,
What flower pots do not like is the sudden change in temperature that makes them crack.
unless you really want to have baskets on your chimney there is a rather "simple" solution, especially definitive in fact, which consists in putting four threaded rods in the chimney and on the rods a concrete or stone plates and the bolt on.
here in brittany have a lot of chimney like that, no problem and all at cheap.

our boiler runs on gas, it starts up only in case of heat demand, in short it does not rotate continuously.
however, I do not know if the change in temperature causes the destruction of the burner, but on both the one that does not have the boiler drain pipe is damaged.
thank you for your answers, it allows to have different points of view.
