Help in choosing a type of heating

by duvalovitch » 19/01/11, 17:58

Hello to the whole futura community.

I've been browsing the various conversations around heating methods for a while now.

I dare to create my subject, because each house has its specificities!

We have just bought a house in the Ain of 140m² on 2 levels. we undertook some work, knocking down an interior wall, changing all the windows for double-glazed wood.

what we hadn't planned (before starting it lol) was to change the boiler.

when we had gas delivered to us, we were able to restart the old FRISQUET hydromotrix boiler from 1986, and the SURPRISE, a large puddle below after 40 minutes.

after a visit by a plumber, the boiler was, according to him, not very well followed (no more traces of follow-up after 2004), and the expansion vessel is dead. BALANCE 500€.

we had given ourselves 3 years to gas to consider changing the heating system.
Today we find ourselves faced with a fait accompli, and that is why I am turning to you.

in short: the heating engineer offered us a condensing boiler because fuel oil takes up too much space in our eyes (no laundry room or adjoining outbuilding), just like wood or pellets.
Heat pump incompatible with the hydrolic network and ALU emitters for low temp°

my question is :

is this choice correct? what advice can you give me?

data:
25-year-old aluminum transmitters.
adobe house isolated interior on north wall only
attic insulated 25 years ago (but not too packed glass wool)
window 4/16/ new
2 people in the household
DHW by electric water heater (25 years) which should soon be RELEASED.

Finally, apart from the gas, you don't have much choice!
On the other hand, if your radiators are high T°, the condensation will not be very effective.
ECS on EDF off-peak hours is not expensive. Your boiler can be stopped in summer.
Good choice.

Cylinder gas is the most expensive heating. From a purely economic point of view you would do better to heat yourself with electricity. But hey, you have to invest...

moreover you do not want wood or pellets or fuel oil.

ultimately your heating engineer can hardly be wrong, since you leave no other choice.

so much for me futura / econology : Cheesy:

I am open to all proposals, but the boiler being in the (wall) kitchen, I do not see the installation of a large oil or pellet boiler.

ditto the fact that a heat pump would not bother me, but the plumber assured me that the transmitters would have to be changed (ok) AND the whole hydraulic system (pipes) it goes less well because really too much damage (unless you tell me the opposite).

I also saw that the condensation yield would not be terrible, that's why it bothers me.

so we repair it, it will do the tps that is necessary before changing everything?

as I'm into pellets, you can't say that I'm objective...
so I would say a pellet stove-boiler that you put in the living room so you can see the fire.
advantages: simple, economy, safety, decoration, place
disadvantage: you have to fill and clean
In general, women are chilly and want something like this to make their nest very cozy.

the pellet calorie is roughly 5 cents/kwh, gas in cylinders 11 or 12.

but do you need a silo?

I already have a fireplace, but a pellet boiler will be nice (it's not the same investment anyway).

it's a stove, it replaces the chimney, saving space. investment of around 5000€ raised. no silo, you have to fill the tank manually.
a boiler with silo is 15000€, and not more efficient, just automatic.
Otherwise you can repair the existing one and heat mainly with the chimney, since you have one.

You still need a little space to have a few bags in advance! 15 kg, it goes quickly.
No silo, but pellets in bags are much more expensive than in bulk (210€ against 300€).

Totally correct !
on the other hand, when it comes to prices, you have to compete, because here we find 230€/tonne in bags.
