Advice for buying heated house 100% wood

by elie79 » 26/02/10, 09:39

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and novice in heating mode, so I will need expert advice;)

Here I am considering buying a house that is heated only with wood, does it heat well?
The fireplace is upstairs on the same level as the living rooms. By cons there is a room on the ground floor that I want transformed into a room, how to be heated, what to put?
ps: I have a very limited budget
Thank you

As the heat tends to rise, if there is no hydraulic circuit in the house, you can consider that the room on the ground floor is not heated and that you will therefore have to put an auxiliary heating or a hydraulic network .

Regarding wood heating, I advise you to read this file:

It is not 100% finished but it is a very complete file compared to what you can find on the net ...

https://www.econologie.com/se-chauffer-a ... -3905.html

The first thing that you will have to do is optimize the open fire by putting an insert ... see a hydraulic insert. Read this page if you don't know what I'm talking about: https://www.econologie.com/les-types-de- ... -4224.html

Thank you for your answer,

I had already looked a little at your file which did very well elsewhere;).
There is already an insert on the fireplace. What worries me is the room at the bottom, how to heat it without having major work and that it is expensive?

A house heated only by fireplace, yes why not, but have you thought about the constraints that this creates.

For example, if you go to work, who will fuel the fire during the day? and the night ?

For me, it is compulsory to have additional heaters for a minimum of living comfort. ;-)

yes, I know there are constraints;). What type of backup heater can I use, without it being too expensive?

the cheapest is the electric.
But do not take the "toasters" which only heat the air ...

Invested a little more to get radians.

ok thank you christophe and moby for answers :D
By cons do you know how much will cost the installation of electric radiators (excluding the cost of radiators)? I especially want to know the cost of setting up the system and if there is a need for a lot of work?
I don't know if I'm clear there : Mrgreen:

In principle for electric heating, a separate circuit is required (do not transplant on the lighting or the sockets next door for example)

So that includes the purchase of one (or more) circuit breaker + possibly a differential circuit breaker.

After the most annoying is the passage of cables to the radiators.
It is necessary either to make bloodletting, to go through the basement, false ceiling etc ... or the simplest solution but the least pretty are the chutes.

For the price :

So 1 or more circuit breakers + 1 or more RCDs (not given) + cables (price depends on the total length but it goes fast)

It may be more expensive than radiators.

breakers are all prices.

With a ladle, I would say 500 € of material but I do not know anything because I do not know the length of the cable etc ...
