Insulation board made of cellulose wadding

by Douce25 » 22/11/10, 13:31

Hello everybody
I am coming for the first time on this forum have advice for my insulation.
I am thinking of redoing my cellulose wadding insulation. A few questions come to mind and I hope some of you can give me some advice.
1) I currently have a non-convertible attic, and I was thinking of putting my loose cellulose wadding directly on my placo ceiling. Is this feasible and should I put a vapor barrier?
2) Inside the roof, my tiles are visible and I don't have an under-roof, is that a problem?
3) Around the chimney and boiler pipes (poujoula pipe), is there a special protection with the wadding?
4) I could see that we recommended around 30cm thick for the cellulose wadding is this correct?
merci pour votre aide

0) 1st thing, type cotton wool here: https://www.econologie.com/forums/search.php
I installed some in our attic almost 2 years ago. Here is a complete file: https://www.econologie.com/ouate-de-cell ... -3763.html even with a video (funny)
The subject: https://www.econologie.com/forums/isoler-des ... t4708.html

Your answers:

1) If you have a "physical and waterproof barrier" between the wadding and the occupants, you do not have to put a vapor barrier

2) It is absolutely necessary to stop up and flush out the draft with the cotton wool otherwise everything will come out! If you have attic vents on the side of the prevailing winds, this will be a problem.
But there is a product to create a kind of crust in these specific cases (even remember the name ... wonder if it's not misted water)

3) Good question, look at the technical instructions for the cotton wool. It may be necessary to make a mini formwork and use a "fire" insulation.

4) 30 cm is good, it gives an R of more than 7. I put 25 cm with us.
