NUAIR REVOLUTION'AIR Movy (MECAFER) compressor broken down which no longer exceeds 2 bars

NUAIR REVOLUTION'AIR Movy (MECAFER) compressor broken down which no longer exceeds 2 bars

by Christophe » 24/09/20, 13:52

My Nuair Movy compressed air compressor (bought in 2007) has not exceeded (approximately) 2 bars for a few weeks ... It was still working well in the spring, I had increased it to 8 bars, generally I did not exceed 5 -6 bars of adjustment.

There are no audible leaks (= when the compressor is stopped ... when it turns, the air is bound to go somewhere ...) ... you must not blow the circuit breaker ... Just that the bars stagnate at 2 bars ...

The pressure build-up seems to me a little slower than before ... (which raises concerns about the sealing of the piston ... certainly not really repairable ...) ...

It seems to me that I did not pay a lot of money at the time (150?), This model no longer exists and the current equivalent version is worth between 150 and 250 € on the internet ...

It was not used very much, a few tire inflation / blower cleaning ... I purged the water quite regularly.

Do you think this can be fixed? What should I first check? The pressure switch maybe?

It's a bit boring to intervene because everything is "under plastic" ...

About the pressure switch ... I have to exceed 6-7 bars for the motor (when the tank at 2 bars) restarts ...

Maybe that's a clue?

The pressure at the gun is in fact at 1.5 bars (free air)

Does your compressor have an oil level? Or do you oil upstream?
If he runs dry when he shouldn't ...... he's bad. : Wink:
Some low-end compressors run dry "Teflon-like segmentation" but must operate
intermittently short ... but don't last long either ....

I think it was sold as an oil-free compressor ... that's the specificity of the Nuair ...

I confirm : https://www.velleman.eu/products/view?i ... be&lang=fr
Features

easy to carry
translucent storage compartment
easy maintenance without oil

Specifications

rated power: 1100W / 1.5 hp
maximum pressure: 9 bar
flow rate: 200 liters / min
tank capacity: 5l
engine: 3400 rpm
power supply: 230VAC
consumption: 5A

So that would be the worn segment from what you say ... I don't know if the disassembly is worth the effort ... he's 13 ...

But the dismantling would be instructive ...

Hi, you have to see how it is mounted if the compressor sucks there is still the tank with the pressure switch and all that goes with it, it may be possible to remove the compressor and replace it why not with a fridge motor or a air conditioning compressor like this one

but disassembling this compressor without oil to see the interior is not a bad idea

Why wait for tomorrow what we can do today?

It was informative and I diagnosed the problem: the discharge valve is out of order ... the missing end was in the "segment" which, finally and despite that, looks pretty good. I wonder if it was not the 8 bar test that I did in the spring that finally did this ...

I've never taken a shirt off so quickly in my life (mechanical shirt eh!)

The longest was actually removing the plastic covers.

It's a basic wiggly piston design ... but it works. The piston is only in the axis during compression, when it goes down it is tilted!

The tank is only held ... by the plastics!

Everything looks pretty good after 13 years.

Continuation and end (for today):

The air intake is therefore under the piston (4-branch valve on the piston) ...without any filtration (even ultra basic) therefore.

The suction valve is also worn. It will therefore be necessary that this change these 2 parts ... I feel that it will be a hassle to find and the discharge valve is mounted with a brass rivet that I do not know how to put back ...

Suggestions are therefore welcome!

Resuite and refin!

This is where the air suction takes place ... at the connecting rod!

Adding a filter wouldn't have cost much more ...

One idea would be to remove the lamellar valve from the cylinder head which I feel will be impossible to find or difficult to manufacture / assemble ... and replace it with a valve at the discharge line.

I should fill the dead volumes of the cylinder head to optimize this modification (silicone, PU foam ...?) And increase the 3 discharge holes (slightly)

I will add a coarse sponge type filter at the connecting rod ...

And I will return the valve to the suction ... we were already doing that with the mobs it worked !! : Mrgreen:

Who says better? : Cheesy:
