aluminum welding a footpegs Honda VFR platinum: ok or not?

And if they were repairing rather than throwing and change? Rediscover the pleasure of the repairs yourself. How to diagnose a problem or find spare parts? Repair itself is way to save money generally!

Thank you Guy and Macro but it has been repaired (purchase of a used turntable) for 10 years ... this subject dated from 2011! : Mrgreen:

Macro I didn't even know that we could weld aluminum with MIG : Shock: : Shock: : Shock: : Shock:

However, I did evening welding lessons in 2018 (you may have come across a rare model since it does MIG / TIG at the same time, generally it's more TIG / MMA ...) ... .

In short, I'm impatiently awaiting the invention of aluminum cored wire... because I don't have enough welding work to manage the gas cylinders (it's been a subscription apparently for a few years ...) : Cry: : Cry: : Cry:

the boutanches ... Up to 2.3m3 at air Liquide it is in property ... On the other hand 340 € the first ... In my case you need 2 an argon co² for the steel and an argon for the alu but I already had argon for the tig ... And 75 € the recharge .. knowing that 2.3 m3 at 10l / mn it doesn't even make 4 hours of welding ..

The possibility of chamfering the broken piece is quite poor. Why chamfer ??? well quite simply to balance the two edges of the pieces to be welded so that they heat identically on the two sides to be welded ... start to make a fairly thin bead in the bottom of the chamfer and reload in two or three successive passes avoiding letting the metal cool too much ...

Chamfering is a bit of a guarantee to obtain penetration while avoiding overheating.
You can preheat the room in Mamita's stove trying not to exceed 160 °. (Beware of reprisals :) )
The castings weld rather badly (spit a lot under the lance making large craters) and will certainly have a much lower resistance than at the origin ...

Good evening Flytox.

For the heating of the rooms ... I was aware ... the oven in the family kitchen is used to this kind of turpitude ... two years ago I stuck the brake linings hot. scandal : Cheesy: : Cheesy: : Cheesy: the house had to be opened wide for 4 hours on a freezing day ...

Small evening DIY ... Manufacture of a rear loop extension for the 300 Gazgaz at Minimacro 2 in order to be able to hold a credit card size license plate and a symbolic red light without breaking the rear mudguard at the slightest blow of racket ....

Christophe I can guarantee you that if I had had such a tool 35 years ago .... I would undoubtedly have made another career as a scammer in the oil industry ....
