Wind: building a vertical axis wind turbine from A to Z

by toftof » 11/12/05, 13:29

Bonjour à tous
The goal is to come up with, and thanks to you, a simple wind with simple and easy to find materials.
The use could be (to be as flexible as possible and to store energy) to produce hot water (electric boiler) or help the central heating if big production with a hot water tank. Because the advantage is not to use batteries more or less polluting and do not lose energy store but to consume immediately.
There should be a typical wind turbine capable of producing at 1800 2000 W. As we could add wind turbines to achieve the desired power rather than making a big complicated to implement, expensive and fragile.

You might as already done Guidi put interesting sites like this vertical wind I think ideal. But after we put a gear system and bicycle chain to an average of 1800 2000 has r / min (to stick with the rotation of the car or truck alternators).

The problem is that after the design of the wind, because we lack the power to get out of this wind turbine shaft to how far we can ask. To snap an alternator on this vertical wind.

If there are interested, let's go !!, burst out like us to go out and pantone a construction and functional management schemes.
My problem and that I am very bad in electricity and I never achieve that kind of experience so I'm going with a big drawback. Also I am new. So I can also say things infeasible so help me.

Put the max on constructive links to save time.

See you soon

The base is to know the average wind speed available on the site of implantation. After one can speculate ...

Spot count you among our dear friend electrician
The weather station on the roof of my building indicates average winds

From Less than 10 km / h average over 8% of the year (gust 15km / hour)
In 10 20 has km / h average over 30% of the year (gust 35 km / hour)
In 20 30 has km / h average over 40% of the year (gust 45 km / hour)
In 30 40 has km / h average over 20% of the year (gust 65 km / hour)
Over 40 km / h average over 2% of the year (gust 80 km / hour)
Superior 160 km / hour on a liver 2000 storm. But it happens

Note, using wind vertical variable speed as the site that I propose to the top, we stick perfectly to our wind and many other areas wind.
Windless days, the traditional boiler can resume the relay with a thermostatic valve.
See you soon.

Hello everyone!
I'm at the AFPA of chatellerault and I am part of a project team
to implement an industrialization of a new product,
and our new product is a vertical axis wind turbine capable of producing between 1.5 and 2 kW to power a boiler.
being responsible for the design part of the project I étudis possible improvements to the overall performance of the device,
Would there he calculation bases for Savonnius wind?
@ + And good luck !!!!!!!

iop : Lol:

There should be a typical wind turbine capable of producing 1800 2000 to w

Here there is a bug because following a fairly simple law of electricity with a car alternator (12v =) is obtained and 170A with a truck alternator (24v =) still 80A.

You got a crane to bring your son ...?!? :?

And even if we rewind, removed the regulation for the dry phase that remains important enough to create other annoying sizing problems.

yes I had found the idea appealing as (wind to directly power a Chauffaut without using batteries) and I wanted to talk to my father.

the problem of intensity is a big pb actually and a transformer for such powers must be very expensive, too bad ...

But then it's the same problem for any power supply, even an intermediate storage by battery must refill the current with a big amperage and all or you mean that it is limited only for small electrical consumption. ? ...
