How many men would it take to push windmill blades?
How many men would it take to push windmill blades?
hello, I ask myself the question, if we put a big wind turbine on the ground, how much man would have to push the blades of wind to produce electricity, as in the Temp or the horses turn to raise the l water ect ect.

Re: eolienne how many man would it take to push blades
Uh, the question is serious? Do you want to restore slavery?
For men I do not know but for the horses it is 1 cv steam is 740w for 6-8h per day ... divide by 5 to 10 for a man ... say 80w per man for 8h per day is 640 Wh mechanical energy is about 500 Wh electric 0,5 kWh or less than 10 cents per day!

hello christophe, no I do not want to return to slavery, remove the box speed leaving free just the generator these all we could make it live with 30 people by blades for example. what I want precisely it was a day be able to try, for the telethon. with a small step a huge one of 4mw.

Uh 4 what?
MW or mW? Mega or milli?
It's not the same thing ... milli is nothing, mega it's huge! See my calculation above.

Re: How many men would it take to push windmill blades?
1mega watt without the box live.but I think that connect for example to the network or to turn big resistance ect its going to be hard! I want to give me a generator like the image 2 meters of high but impossible to find a truck with a wheel at dawn that would have been good.i thought the same thing for this generatrice.j'i saw on the net someone who work on new geniuse he plugged a grinder and just turned the the return naked by hand.

1 MW = 10 000 men ...
Good luck with your project...

Re: How many men would it take to push windmill blades?
It is galley like project anyway ...
At the time, we had the men but not the generators ...
Today, we have generators but we do not risk to have men ...

The idea is good as a demonstrator of the tremendous potential of wind energy.
We could take a ride mechanism (it exists) and put a mill alternator instead of the drive motor. http://www.van-straaten.org/index_fichi ... ulique.htm
But 30 people per blade is already too much: the people who will be at the ends of the blades will have to sprint while those close to the center will walk slowly. 10 to 20 total people producing 1kW it seems feasible.
But the idea is good as a demonstrator of the tremendous potential of wind energy. For the equivalent of a 4MW wind turbine, 40000 people would be required, people pushing at the ends of the blades to run at 200 or 300 meters per second ...
NB: 100W per person is already excessive. The Power Box generator 50 is 50W: https://www.k-tor.com/shop/generators/power-box-50/

Seen like that, yes it's just! Well done Leo!
And we could also say "as a demonstrator of the tremendous amount of energy consumed by our modern societies"
