11KW WIND PROJECT

by Miagui » 16/06/15, 20:00

Hello wind friends!
I have an 11KW electric motor usable as a generator as well as 6v Nicd 100A batteries,
Could you advise me to carry out my wind project?
What am I missing in material?
Which blades to use? (I would like a vertical eoliene, simpler to set up) living on a hill, no wind worries.
Thanks in advance !

An 11 kW engine is huge.
For a wind turbine the power is calculated with this formula
P = Cp * 1/2 * rho * S * V3
P power em W (Watt)
Cp power coefficient - Betz proved that it was at most 0.6
but in practice we can take 0.4
rho density - for air rho = 1.25 kg / m3
S Area swept by the blades in m2
V wind speed at 100 m height, V can be equal to 10, 12 or 14 m / s
but at 10 m in height V is at the maximum maximum equal to 8m / s
electrical and mechanical efficiency must be added, for example 0.7 and 0.8

11000 = 0.7 * 0.8 * 0.4 * 1/2 * S * 8 ^ 3 either S = 192 m2 or D = 15 m diameter

We need blades that are 7 m long, it's huge

Thank you, even if the extremely learned calculations for me do not speak to me, I understand the result!
With smaller blades, would the yield be lower or not rotate at all?
have a good day

Hello
efficient wind turbines have a speed coefficient of around 3.
this coefficient is the ratio between the tangential speed at the blade tip relative to the wind speed
if we want to produce from a wind of 6m / s
wind speed V = 8m / s -> tangential speed U = 3 * 6 = 18 m / s
the angular speed of rotation omega = U / R
and the number of revolutions per minute rpm = omega / 2 / pi * 60
for blades of 7 m rpm = 18/7 / 2 / ft * 60 = 24 rpm
for blades of 1.5 m rpm = 18 / 1.5 / 2 / ft * 60 = 114 rpm

if the 11kW motor is an asynchronous motor, the synchronism speed must be exceeded.
for example 11kW asynchronous motor 1500 rpm synchronous speed 1600 rpm
the multiplication ratio is so 7 m pale 1600/24 ratio = 67
if 1.5m blade 1600/114 ratio = 14
These multiplication ratios are important and the yield is good in reducer but very poor in multiplier.
In our case, we are using a multiplier, using 1.5m blades, the generator being greatly oversized, there is a good chance of producing 0 watt
