More ideas conveyed ..... on wind power ....

Renewable energies except solar electric or thermal (seeforums dedicated below): wind turbines, energy from the sea, hydraulic and hydroelectricity, biomass, biogas, deep geothermal energy ...

More ideas conveyed ..... on wind power ....

by phil59 » 27/06/22, 16:16

I place here, but it could be somewhere else....

On Friday my wife said to me:

Do you know that if no power plant production, wind turbines give nothing? there's a motor in it, and it's useless!

Another false information conveyed by a person saying that her husband works in a power plant...

But it's not totally necessary, I think, because for 1/4 of a second, it challenged me!

But thinking about it, for safety reasons, to intervene on the lines, it is better not that the wind turbines give juice, so when no 50Hz or 60Hz, depending on the country, no supply of juice, it's normal. ..

My micro inverters on PV, do the same thing, if no juice, no production (no hybrid inverter, and I consume or give to the grid free of charge).

As for the engine, I wonder if she was not talking about a generator ....

Fortunately, for the electric car, she knows it's possible, in 2015 she had her first EV, the same as mine.

Don't really understand what you mean...
There are very few production units capable of starting up on a ""dead" network, without voltage or frequency. The vast majority are hydraulic power stations. They are the ones that are called upon first in the event of a black out in the framework for restoring the network and returning voltage to other nuclear or fossil fuel units.
Everything that is "fatal" and uncontrollable (wind, solar) is normally excluded from the system until a controlled situation is restored.

That's exactly what I'm saying, if no frequency, no production...

Could be badly said....

Exact. Without the big plants, the current cannot be synchronized, so a network of wind turbines would not hold (even if each one could be used independently of the others). Large plants impose the frequency of the network. All current producing equipment on the network must be at the exact same frequency, and in phase, this is not at all simple to achieve.

Already heard this rumor by me, the department where there are the most wind turbines.

In this short video, children's speech reflects what they hear from adults... https://www.lumni.fr/video/l-impact-des-eoliennes

At night, around my house, it's Christmas all year round with these flashing lights everywhere.
