Wind turbine: hub and blades replacement by larger?

Before I drop my tree which is right on the spot.

why remove this tree, instead of keeping it, pruning it high and putting the mast above or next to it and the wind turbine a little above the tree.

So the corner does not become more deserted, does not change, the neighbor does not get excited and the wind turbine turns as well.

You're reading my mind.
I'm going to cut it about 3m flat
To bolt the base of the mat.
1 strut from the top of the roof. And 2 guy lines.

I'm going to cut it about 3m flat

what kind of tree?
some tolerate heavy or even total cuts, maples, chestnut trees, plane trees, etc ... to resume immediately, and others die, pines, oaks, etc ... that should only be cut partially, leaving 60% leaves or needles.

it is acacia, hard as iron when dry. My chainsaw told me so. She takes herself for a flame spit.
I have a good 40 / 50cm in diameter at 3m.

It's acacia shit, impossible to get rid of, that one is half dead.
He lifted me several tons of stones with his roots.
I'm going to screw it up : Mrgreen:
And in front of him facing south I have a 5/6 m oak tree to prune: him

Ah yes, the Robinia, false acacia, (otherwise it is mimosa) regrows, even cut flush with the ground, with lots of stems stuffed with very large thorns to defend itself, following this past aggression (near my home 91 , there is a corner of the forest stuffed with these stems with enormous thorns, suckers repelled, after the storm of late 1999 having killed acacias) !!!

In addition it rots much more slowly than other woods (tens of years instead of years), ideal for posts.

informative wikipedia:
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robinia_pseudoacacia
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimosas
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat%C3%A9gorie:Acacia

The locust tree does not tolerate severe pruning and pruning. If it is absolutely necessary to do so, prefer the period just after flowering.

which explains
the one is half dead.

but it will grow back full of prickly suckers all around, unless you hunt the slightest root !!!
And its strain is hard and almost rot-proof !!!
you have to work it quickly enough after cutting before it gets too hard

Good luck !!!

Not even afraid.
It's terrible to cut dry. But it heats the fire of God. : Mrgreen:
A good carbide rat tail file. The elec et hop trunk: a nice pile of wood.
And the mat isn't ready to go.

I did the rotation test with my homemade 6-blade Missouri hub. It turns without any problem and it quickly picks up speed, this in full turbulence 4 meters in front of the house and 2 meters from the headwind. Empty tests. Wind varying from 0 to 2 m / s.

These blades really make a lot of noise.

After cutting the tree.
I'm not going to put on the iron mat right away. Too heavy to place without a crane.
I'm going to put one of the 2 sections of my 4m aluminum mast. Very simple to handle but less resistant. For 8m it is 2 series of guy lines mandatory
Then with a crown pulley, I will use to mount the other: the heavy.

Edit: I will make a good ball joint for the square base of the mat.
With large hinge for shutter / door.
It measures in the 40cm long, and 1cm thick.
The patella is included on one edge. Just find the right axis.

Good evening everyone,

plasmanu, I followed your adventures with your wind turbine; where are you at ?

I have the same for a few months, and I am disappointed ... It is true that by adjusting the angle of the blades we gain a little when starting at low wind, but it is not top ...
(I put a point of 4mm under each blade on the side to raise, at least it's balanced)

How did you "grow" the drift, I also find that the wind turbine has too much of a tendency to weathervane ...

Finally, do you still use the original blades or those of Airx?

did you test with 6 blades and a hub 6?

Thanks for your help !

Rudely practical.
I put the turbine on the bench and launched the blades with a weight of 100g: aluminum gourd without cap

The airX blades have a lot more inertia.

Return of origin plus a large drift. And wait for the wind.
