By the way, the site "Ocean to Energy" looks pretty good and also gives information on tidal turbines, for those interested (me it interests me ).
There is a topic here about tidal turbines?

To return to the wind turbines, a great site to see and put
in the links to know.

The tidal turbine and the water mill 'central type' are still different because in the case of the tidal turbine, there is no diversion of water and forcing in a pipe. It captures the energy of a marine current, or tide, and not that of a stream.
Being used in an 'open' environment the tidal turbine has a larger size and imposes specific constraints. This subject is still interesting because we have coastlines bathed by currents quite important that would be exploitable ...
However, it must be taken into account that this would hinder fishing activities and that this would still cause conflicts with fishermen.

Absolutely, it would make reserve areas in which we could also put some artificial reefs. This enriches the area with fish and restores certain benthic stocks.
By the way, the underside of the oil platforms is colonized by a large fauna.
What I said was that it was still a restriction of the fishing grounds and they welcome it badly in general.

Indeed, I agree for 2 points. Rheolian because we use a marine current.
The same goes for the restriction of fishing because the environment has been overexploited, the pelagic species are decimated. All the more so since today we could still make the change from hunter to farmer by switching to aquaculture.
It is true that the latter is harder for a lot of species, but if we put the budgets we could get there.
Anyway, it's enough to see what some people are doing about the "scientific" whale hunt ...
