The ASBL Vent de Raison does not go with a dead hand. She accuses the Walloon government of "wind" lies
It is not the first time that the ASBL Vent de Raison has been angry with wind turbines. But this time, the accusations are worth their weight in green energy: "The Walloon government is engaging in a fraudulent energy policy, because it is based on lies", articulates Patrice d'Oultremont carefully, on behalf of the ASBL. "It's a heavy accusation," he admits. "But I assume and I can repeat it because it is reality. No one has ever been able to demonstrate that the use of wind turbines makes it possible to reduce the use of fossil fuels or CO2 emissions ”.
What makes the association angry is the new wind reference framework adopted by the Walloon government on August 25. The objective is to reach 8 Gw / h of renewable energy by 000 (including 2020 Gw / h from wind power), with the key to a 4% reduction in CO500 emissions in the same time limit. This plan assumes the installation of 30 2 MW wind turbines per year.
For Vent de Raison, it is very clear: the starting premise is false. “A wind power plant constantly oscillates between zero production and maximum production. The adjustment involves gas-fired power plants which work mirrored against the oscillations of the wind turbines, ”explains Patrice d'Oultremont.
This adjustment therefore calls for fossil fuel consumption and CO2 production, which cancel out the green wind impact. “The law wants to ignore that the Kw / h at the foot of the wind turbine is not immediately usable like the Kw / h produced by a gas power plant. However, this transformation of the wind into electricity also costs energy and money, ”he continues.
"The more wind, the more CO2"
"And we are able to prove all of this," says Patrice d'Oultremont, graphics in support. Elia's Irish counterpart, the distributor Eirgrid, has developed a permanent control system for all the calculable parameters related to the operation of wind turbines. Including CO2 emissions.
“For the past year, this company has published its quarter-hour to quarter-hour statements. And what do we see? The more wind, the more CO2 is produced. It is related to all the complex machinery that allows stabilization of wind power production. We are told the opposite. The lie is there! He repeats gravely. “We have proof of what we say. While the government claims without proof that it is a renewable energy, making it possible to reduce CO2 emissions. We challenge the government to prove it! »Launch the representatives of the ASBL.¦
