CO2 cost of the manufacturing of a wind

by onthisplanet » 09/11/06, 21:35

I am looking for the following answers for a visitor from my forum :

- How many kg of CO2 the manufacture and installation of a wind turbine
does it produce?
- How long does it take on average for a wind turbine to
find ecological balance in terms of CO2?

If anyone has the info, thanks in advance!

Michael

Welcome!

I do not know the number, but it is certainly less than if you had your kilowatts produced by a coal or oil plant!

ADEME or the Ministry of Industry has these figures ...

They are very important according to certain "rumors" (5 years, 10 years, never profitable ...) ...

Thank you for these tracks.
I'm going to "prowl" there ...

I am always surprised by these questions which seem to give a bad trial to wind turbines ...

Are we concerned about the cost of CO2 from the construction of a gas, coal or oil power station?

Has anyone ever estimated the cost of CO2 from a hydroelectric installation? From a solar oven? A methanisation unit for organic waste?

How are these famous "CO2 costs" calculated? Compared to what alternative?

Fashion is CO2 and the question does not seem silly to me.
Anyway, I don't know what to answer my visitor ...

Hello

the problem with wind power is that production is unpredictable, and since a nuclear power plant does not start up in 5 minutes and the current is impossible to store; as soon as there is more wind we start thermal to take over. And there the co² comes out : Evil:
