Cave and heating

by qed » 25/10/08, 19:55

Hello,
We have a cave under the house, it is located in the middle of the mountain (we heat 10 months a year, with a large wood stove).
Is there a way to use this cave for another heating mode?
We already have a gas central heating system (propane bottles ...), which we do not use.

For me there are 2 possibilities.
Either place a heat pump there, but you must see the
volume of the cave, or use it to pre-heat
the air supplying the wood stove and / or the house.
As of a Canadian / provincial well. But
before you have to check if there is no radion emission
in the cave.

Maybe there is a way to rent the cave to store it
wine or cheese. This income will pay for heating without
make fresh.

Thank you Rabbit,
Do you have figures on the volume of the cave?
On the other hand, I don't know what a radion emission is, do you have a pointer to an explanation?

Excuse me it's radon and not radion.
A link : http://www.fanc.fgov.be/fr/page/le-rado ... u/431.aspx

In terms of the volume of the cave you are better placed
than me to assess it. : Cheesy:

Thanks for the link on radon!
As for the volume of the cave, I meant figures on the volume required depending on the case (volume of the house, extreme outside temperatures, temperature of the cave, or any other thing entering the parameters and which I do not have idea for now ...).

I'm sorry this exceeds my skills.
We will have to wait for the team to take over.

Otherwise you ask the question to an installer of pumps
heat.
