Performance of vertical axis wind turbines ???

Renewable energies except solar electric or thermal (seeforums dedicated below): wind turbines, energy from the sea, hydraulic and hydroelectricity, biomass, biogas, deep geothermal energy ...

Performance of vertical axis wind turbines ???

by chris34 » 02/02/13, 20:14

Hello,

equipped with photovoltaic panels. , I would like to see what is currently being done in the field of vertical axis wind turbines:
the yield ? the noise ? the cost ?
Because a friend of mine who owns a wind turbine ((horizontal axis) tells me that vertical axis wind turbines are "worthless"

Thanks for your info!
:D

I have no experience on the subject but I came across a newspaper article that recently praised it ( HERE)

I hope you find a little more info on the subject that will allow you to make a well-considered decision.

This is good too

Vertical axis wind turbines integrate much more easily in a city, on buildings

I find the site of elyogir of another age (2006) and it is rather painful to consult.

The business still exists. :?:
Did they sell something. :?:

This vertical axis wind turbine is disproportionate and very unsightly ...

I did not find any developed power data or an operating curve ...

In short, all this does not look very professional. :?

End

efficiency in the range of 0.3 and 0.5max (I'm not even sure about 0.5 for the other) compared to an honest horizontal axis that will go from mini 0.3 to 0.7.

Then the weight, the balancing, suddenly the larger base and the low final height ...

your friends did you say listen to your friends :) , the VAWT is shit, go see the one on the roof of the aeropore in Marseille if it has been running for a long time these are GUAL industry roughly the same as your eliogir ... so no coment

Gable wind turbine is also a problem nest ...

But everyone does what they want;) ...
