100% renewable energies in 2050, it is possible according to

According to European professionals in the renewable energy sector, the European Union could produce 100% of its energy be it electricity, heat or for transport from renewable sources by 2050. In a prospective report called RE-thinking 2050, the European Council for Renewable Energies (EREC) explains how the European energy mix could be based solely on renewable energies within 40 years and the economic, environmental and social benefits that could accompany such a transition.

Thus for electricity production, the EREC relies on wind power up to 1.552 TWh in 2050 against 104 TWh in 2007, 448 TWh for hydraulics (325 in 2007), 1.347 TWh for photovoltaics (5,4 in 2007), 496 TWh thanks to biomass (102 in 2007), 601 TWh geothermal (5,8 in 2007), 385 TWh thanks to concentrated solar thermal (0,8 in 2007) and 158 TWh via energy from oceans (production non-existent in 2007).
To meet heat requirements, EREC plans to produce biomass from 214,5 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe) compared to 61,2 Mtoe in 2007. Thermal solar could produce 122 Mtoe (0,88 in 2007) and geothermal energy 136,1 Mtoe (compared to 0,9 in 2007). On the transport side, agrofuels could represent 102 Mtoe against 7,88 in 2007.

Sine qua non condition: a reduction in energy needs

In the end, the production of renewable electricity would reach nearly 5.000 TWh to which must be added the 473 Mtoe of heat and the 102 Mtoe of agrofuels which is close to current primary energy needs: 3.400 TWh of electricity was consumed in 2007 in Europe according to Eurostat, 554 Mtoe of heat and 377 Mtoe in transport.
But it will be far from enough by 2050 if energy needs continue to grow at their current rate. The EREC envisages different scenarios depending on the energy prices and the savings policies implemented by the governments. Renewable energies could meet more than 100% of needs only if the savings policies are very aggressive and if energy consumption is nearly 40% lower than today.
In addition, the scenario of the European Council for renewable energies is only valid if investments in production sites are there. By 2050, these investments could reach more than 2.800 billion euros according to the study.

To convince, the EREC highlights the economic, social and environmental benefits that would result from a fully renewable energy mix. "The potential benefits of a future based on renewable energies are multiple: mitigation of climate change, energy security and job creation," says Arthouros Zervos, president of EREC.
According to the report, by 2050, the EU could reduce its demand for fossil energy by almost 1.000 Mtoe and could reduce its CO2 emissions from energy sources by more than 90% compared to 1990, a saving of 3,8, XNUMX million tonnes of carbon.
In addition, 100% renewable energy would have consequences on social benefits by contributing to job creation: '' the renewable energy sector will employ a total of more than 2,7 million people in 2020 and around 4,4 million in 2030. By 2050, employment in our sector will bring 6,1 million people into work, '' says Arthouros Zervos.

Convinced that achieving an economy powered by renewable energy is not a question of availability of technologies, but rather of political will, the EREC intends to study its study first of all for political leaders. The EREC above all advises them to take advantage of the renewal of energy-producing capacities to redirect policies: '' by 2020, Europe must replace aging factories while meeting future demand. Approximately 330 GWs of new power capacity must be built by 2020, which represents 42% of the capacity of the EU '', explains EREC.

Reducing consumption by 40% is far from impossible. Between passive houses and bicycles, and new industrial standards, it must not be infeasible.
Apart from the problem of finance, which requires a return on investment of 10 to 20%, incompatible with the reduction in GDP that this will induce. So the problem to be resolved as a priority is above all political.
2nd problem the petroleum lobbies: Oil becoming structurally more expensive, and more useless over time, it will be necessary to keep them on a leash, to reduce the sail to the strictly essential.

I personally regret that nothing is said about individual or local energy autonomy (at the municipal level for example). There is much to do, however. With the advantage of involving and empowering a lot more the populations who very often have no elementary energy concept. We are content to consume and spend by saying that the government will steal energy by force if it is necessary to maintain gluttony.

2050 is a date far too far from the need for the land

we are already feeling the effects of our mistakes when we are not all still looking like the automobile

not so long ago that certain countries like china we liberalize car credit

here we say stop
but the bottom they say continues

by 2050 we have time to see everything destroyed

as usual no one will be responsible

Eve bit the apple
and Adam asked him why?
the snake had told me, ...

looks like they're taking away responsibility everyone wants it to shine
and especially no obligation or responsibility

80% of Belgians have never heard of an ecosystem
it reflects well the level of school and moral education

there is a religious reason for refusing to change lifestyle

lucifer the star of the rising is for a return to the source

his son 666 come and prophesy respect for nature

but distrust the disciples of jesus and jesus himself warns against the word of this person

he lies !!!

don't be fooled can we read in the bible

he lies !!!

that's how millions of baboons don't care to respect nature

because the 666 son of lucifer lies !!!
