Several thousand people demonstrated Saturday against the storage of nuclear waste in Dannenberg (northern Germany), from where a convoy of highly radioactive residues approached slowly despite minor altercations with the police.

About twenty kilometers from the Gorleben salt mine, the final destination of the last convoy of German nuclear waste reprocessed in France, a group of environmental associations wanted to recall that Germany's planned exit from nuclear power has not yet settled. the question of residues.

Some 8.000 opponents were on the spot in the middle of the afternoon according to the police, 23.000 according to the environmental organizations.

Hundreds of people occupied, under the eyes of the police, a portion of railway between Lüneburg and Dannenberg in a good-natured atmosphere, noted an AFP photographer.

The convoy was however not expected this Saturday: 60 km single track and in the forest must be traveled at very low speed and day, for security reasons. The train should therefore not arrive before Sunday at the earliest in Dannenberg, where the containers will be transferred in trucks to cover the last 20 km to Gorleben.

The point Sunday night, the record of the blocking ca must be an Nth Fukushima effect ... while waiting for Fegersheim 1 has restarted (we do not spit on 250 Millions of profits per year ...)

The "Sortir du nuclear" Network is still following the convoy very closely

Sunday 26 November 2011

The "Sortir du nuclear" Network has been mobilized since last Monday to denounce the nuclear impasse over the transport of highly radioactive nuclear waste from La Hague (France) to Gorleben (Germany).

In France, many actions and rallies were organized from the convoy to Valognes and throughout the various routes planned by SNCF and Areva.

The train, which entered Germany on Friday morning continues its difficult route to Gorleben.

Sunday 27 November 2011 - Update on the situation

17h00: Mobilization in Germany continues

The extrication of people fixed to a concrete block is finished in Vastorf, the train rolls again.
In Gedelitz 25 villagers moved their living rooms on the village road. There is still room on the couch.
In Gorleben, more than 1000 people participate in the X-tausendmal quer sit-in.

15h00: The convoy moves very slowly

In the early afternoon, the convoy suffered a stop of 25min in Lüneburg.
In Vastorf a second man was extricated from a concrete block fixed on the tracks.
From 14h40, the train is stopped at Wendisch Evern, where a sit-in of 50 people is in place.
The sit-ins in Gorleben and Dannenberg continue.
The feeling of the activists in Germany is that the police are permanently out of control and can not come back to the surface.
An 8 force storm warning to 9 was broadcast in Wendland. However, from strength 8, it is expected, for security reasons, to suspend any unloading of waste. The unloading at the Dannenberg railway terminal could be compromised ... If even the wind joins the antinuclear to slow down the convoy, the waste could still put long hours before joining Gorleben!

13h30: Record of 2010 beaten! the train has left the Channel for more than 92h.

At 13h, the train left Maschen in the south of Hamburg, after a forced stop of more than 17 hours.
The progress of the convoy slowed down for two days by nonviolent many and varied activities: ballast ways in Dahlenburg and Göhrde, peaceful sit-ins and presence on the tracks in Hitzacker, Metzingen, Posad, Hebenshausen, Dannenberg, Lüneburg , Vastorf ...
In Harlingen, a sit-in that gathered 4000 people held a good part of the evening. The activists were evacuated in calm during the night. At 8h, the way to this place was clear.
At Hitzacker activists have been anchored in a concrete block since early in the morning. They were joined by nearly 400 people, now sitting on the rails.
In Dannenberg, the sit-in is still in place, a sit-in to which 200 bikes from "La Vélorution" have been added.
At Gorleben the x1000malquer sit-in has begun.
An important mobilization is therefore still in progress and the train is strongly expected after Lüneburg where only one way of passage exists.

Press release - 27 November 2011 - 14h

Record of 2010 beaten! It has been more than 92 hours since the train left Valognes

The convoy of German vitrified waste is currently on its way to Wendland. At 13h this Sunday he left Maschen in the south of Hamburg, after a forced stop of more than 17 hours. Part of Valognes, in the Channel with a day in advance, the convoy had to be stopped during 24h in Rémilly, Moselle, thus jeopardizing the safety of the inhabitants and the health of the SNCF agents. He still has to travel a hundred miles to reach Gorleben. A major mobilization is still underway and the train is strongly expected after Luneburg, where he stopped to 13h30 13h55 city from which one pathway exists. It is now more than 92 hours that the convoy left the Channel, the record of 2010 is already reached.

The advance of the convoy disrupted thanks to a massive mobilization

It is currently a massive mobilization that has run in Germany.

Yesterday afternoon, 25 people and 000 tractors gathered in a festive atmosphere in Dannenberg, near the railway terminal, where a giant yellow X symbolizing resistance against transport and the burial of waste was deployed at above the crowd, as well as a large banner measuring 500 x 10 meters from the "Sortir du nuclear" network displaying in French "Nuclear kills the future".

The progress of the convoy slowed down for two days, for many and varied non-violent actions: ballast ways in Dahlenburg and Göhrde, peaceful sit-ins and presence on the tracks in Hitzacker, Metzingen, Posad, Hebenshausen, Dannenberg Lüneburg, Vastorf ...

In Harlingen, a sit-in that brought together 4000 people held a good part of the evening. The activists were calmly evacuated overnight. At 8 o'clock, the way there was clear. In Hitzacker activists have been attached to a concrete block since the beginning of the morning. They were joined by nearly 400 people, now seated on the rails. Finally, in Dannenberg, the sit-in is still in place, a sit-in to which 200 bikes from the "Vélorution" have been added.

A mobilization marked by a strong solidarity of foreign antinuclear

Several foreign organizations and movements came to show their solidarity with the German anti-nuclear forces and to give their testimony. Note the remarkable presence of a Japanese delegation, as well as that of the "Sortir du nuclear" Network. During an intervention hailed by the German demonstrators, the representatives of the French anti-nuclear movement expressed their solidarity with the Germans and denounced the dangers of radioactive transport, the myth of the "reprocessing" of waste and the deep burial projects imposed by 'one side and the other of the Rhine. They also called on German activists to join the Human Chain to get out of nuclear power that our association and the "Réaction en Chaine Humaine" group are organizing in the Rhône Valley on March 11, on the occasion of the sad anniversary of the disaster of Fukushima. Our team is still in Wendland and is participating in the ongoing mobilization.

From Bure to Gorleben: Burying waste, a bad idea

A successful mobilization, in response to the lack of solutions for the management of nuclear waste and the absurdity of the deep disposal projects planned in Gorleben in Germany and in Bure in France. To make this foolish choice is to take the risk of contaminating whole territories for tens of thousands of years and bequeath to future generations a poisoned legacy.

These dangerous projects must today be abandoned. The example of the Asse salt mine should be enough to deter the managers of these materials. Thousands of so-called low and medium radioactive waste drums were buried there - officially on an experimental basis - in the 60-70 years. At the time, the authorities wanted reassurance. But today, the mine takes water and collapses, thus irreversibly contaminating groundwater.

There is no "solution" for the management of radioactive waste. The only possibility that presents itself to us is to stop producing it as quickly as possible, by leaving nuclear power. In France as in Germany!
