The French and energy: that's two ... at least ...

by Christophe » 30/11/11, 03:16

Here is a fine collection of idiocies... according to a French survey...

In bold "the worst"! In red, the best...

Electricity too expensive but remains the No. 1 source of heating for the French

PARIS - More than 60% of French people find electricity too expensive for heating but it remains the safest mode for 45% of them, according to a survey by the environmental association Via sèva with the support of the Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe).

Gas seduces 43% of those questioned for its price but this source of energy for heating scares 40%, according to the survey released on Wednesday.

While criticizing the high price of their heating, nearly a third of French people are unable to quote the amount of their bill and nearly one in two respondents do not know that energy prices rose by 12% between August 2010 and August 2011 according to INSEE figures.

For the future, the French largely favor solar energy (78%) ahead of geothermal energy (54%) and the recovery of waste to make heat (49%).

On the other hand, when asked about heating networks, seven out of ten French people do not know what it is. It is true that this mode of heating, which resembles central heating on a city scale, currently concerns only 6% of the population, compared to more than 50% in the Nordic countries.

These heating networks use renewable energies (geothermal, waste recovery, wood) which represent 31% of the energy mix used. The government wants to increase this share to 50% by 2020.

The former Minister of Ecology Jean-Louis Borloo had set him the objective of supplying the equivalent of 6 million homes by heating networks by 2020 against 2 million currently.

The survey was carried out by the MV2 institute for the Via sèva association with the support of Ademe between October 17 and 31, 2011 with a representative sample of 1.000 people in urban areas of more than 30.000 inhabitants.

The Via sèva association campaigns for renewable energies.

I often talk about energy saving with my customers: it's absolutely true. And they are also unaware, for example, of the price of water: they say that it is constantly increasing, but are unaware that they are now paying a purification tax of 1,54 €/m³ (Wallonia), which makes 3,89 /m³

To bounce on the water.

The SWE (Société Wallonne des Eaux) is getting fatter: +10% for water between 2010 and 2011...and 4€/m3 even though it is one of the regions in Europe that has the most drinking sources. .it's quite shameful!

When the gas or edf increases by 2% in France we talk about it on the news (as if it were a scandal elsewhere...)... when the water increases by 10% in Belgium: we say nothing.. .

Still need to find a happy medium...

Indeed, it was very insidious: around 1986 I paid 150 euros for water (indexed, that represents 256 euros.

Last year: 450 euros.

But, in fact, it is this purification tax of 1,54/m³ from the 30th m³ that weighs everything down

and the funniest : Mrgreen: , is that now that I use cistern water for the WC, I hardly pay this tax anymore

People don't read econology enough, what do you want!

You understand that Besson can make them swallow without flinching that if there is a risk of a power surge this winter, it is because of the shutdown of nuclear power plants in Germany... And 80% of people believe it... It is so logical!

No no the French read well... but a lot of trivialities...

The proof, 2 really "interesting" subjects in the Top 10 searches for 2011:

I'll let you guess which ones...

The rest is here, gala...

Funny 2011 is not over that the ranking is already out... Possibly Iran will score well in December...

So, if I'm reading correctly, we have a slight drop in gross energy consumption.
To correlate I think of the decline in growth of the country.
