I don't really know what a "wish" is politically speaking ... it seems less serious than the Aquitaine case!
The Pays de la Loire region adopts a wish for a nuclear exit
The majority PS and Europe Ecology-The Greens (EELV) in the regional council of Pays de la Loire adopted Friday, July 1, 2011 a wish "considering a planned abandonment of nuclear", according to a statement.
"The Fukushima nuclear disaster has revived the public debate on energy. As a majority of French, I think that the outcome of this debate will lead France to consider a gradual exit from the current system, and a planned abandonment of nuclear, "said the Socialist President of the region, Jacques Auxiette. "But there is a prerequisite: the massive development of renewable energies," he added.
Jacques Auxiette also proposed the organization of a major regional energy debate in the fall.
In a statement, the group EELV Pays de la Loire "satisfied with the wishes of groups of the regional majority and presented exceptionally by Jacques Auxiette, the energy strategy of France."
"This text reflects the evolution of our partners on the issue of nuclear approaching the environmentalist position," the statement added.
The wish of the majority is "irresponsible", for its part considered Franck Louvrier, national secretary UMP and regional councilor of the opposition in the region of the Loire.
Energy diversification - "Nuclear energy allows our energy independence", assures Mr. Louvrier in a statement, "a cheaper electricity and the respect of our commitments on the reduction of the emission of greenhouse gases".
"The nuclear industry represents 200 000 direct and indirect jobs on our territory," he adds. "The only possible and responsible way is therefore energy diversification, which brings economic development, innovation and employment," he said.
