Okay, they have finished cementing from the top and now check the pressures.
The drilling continues, and they plan to cement from below too.

Subsea operational update:
The MC252 well has been shut-in since July 15; there is currently no oil flowing into the Gulf. Following completion of cementing operations as part of the static kill procedure, monitoring of the well is underway in order to confirm the effectiveness of the procedure The relief well being drilled by the DDIII continues to progress towards intersecting the annulus.We anticipate the next update will be provided at around 10am CDT on August 7, 2010. Updated August 6 at 9:30 am CDT

The leak is not plugged that they are already planning to build another well to exploit the same source ... scandalous !!!

Well, logical, at $ 80 million a day, who wouldn't try it?

In fact it even surprises me that one of the 2 "emergency" wells was not thought of / considered as a future exploitation well ... but maybe it was ...

It's off again !!!

Explosion on an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico

An oil platform was devastated this Thursday, September 2 by an explosion in the Gulf of Mexico about 140 kilometers from the coast of Louisiana, from Vermillion Bay (southern United States). Thirteen people were thrown into the sea, the one of them is injured. The United States Coast Guard dispatched nine helicopters to the scene. There are no reports of oil leaks into the sea at this time.
