News from Switzerland ...
Nuclear: 20 Billion Swiss Francs (€ 17 billion) to decommission the 5 Swiss Generating Stations

The Swiss Federal Office of Energy has increased the costs of decommissioning nuclear power plants in Switzerland. It should cost at least 20,65 billion francs (€ 17 billion) for the five power stations, 10% more than during the last five-year update.

While the decommissioning of an Atomic Power Station lasts for a hundred years, apart from the UK, no country has yet embarked on this exercise. France has set aside € 1 billion for Centrale. England exceeds 10 billion for the dismantling of its first military center.

At the worst time
The invoices for dismantling and the management of radioactive waste are falling at the worst for certain European countries. Mired in debt problems, it is not easy to have to finance these pharaonic charges. However, several dozen nuclear power plants will have to be decommissioned in the coming years..

Remundo's note: and in a context of higher fossil fuel prices / shortage.

1 billion per plant is really big no matter what, it is much more ... Already it is for a plant of how many reactors 2, 4 or 6?

As long as we talk about big money and as a reminder, it was estimated that 1 nuclear reactor brought in a profit roughly 1/4 billion per year (250 million therefore)

Figure recently confirmed by a program that announced the figure of 1.5 million profit per day on a power plant of 2 reactors, so it sticks.

In any case, in my opinion, a plant should not be dismantled in detail but cleaned and secured / condemned!

By making them turn 40 years then 60 years, we are on a Fukushima-Chernobyl by central, sooner or later, and the price will be astronomical, by 1000 billion €!
Man is not infallible perpetually !!
