EDF noted a radioactive "water leak" from the primary circuit of the Penly reactor (Seine-Maritime), affected earlier by two fires. The leak is "collected in tanks provided for this purpose", said the operator.

The incident occurred during full operation and the leak (2,3 m3 / h) a few hours after the emergency stop. At what temperature was the water in the primary circuit at the time of the leak? Certainly not at 20 ° C. The containment building may be full of water vapor from the primary system.

Fessenheim. Fire starts at the nuclear power plant

A fire started on Wednesday morning, around 8:30 a.m., at the Fessenheim nuclear power plant in Alsace. EDF indicates on its site that this fire which broke out on a cooling equipment of the alternator in the engine room, was quickly brought under control. A month ago, another malfunction had concerned reactor 2 of the power plant.

That explains why the pro-nuclear will always be more numerous than the others: If a power plant was planted on the Place de la Concorde and another on the Cannebière, there would already be many more votes for Eva!

The only large city "close" to a power plant is Lyon

It's convenient to put them all in one place.
We send the liquidators and the firefighters only once.
I have Cruas and Tricastin within 30 kms and rolls around 50.
Painful if it farts, I go up on the roof if I have time. : Cry:

A note about the Fessenheim plant: It is not 100% owned by EDF but only 2/3. The remaining third are Swiss and German, which I imagine will have to be reimbursed after closure. We would have to see what the contract says about this.
