Economical lamps dangerous?

by the middle » 07/05/11, 11:44

Hello,
The Germans say it ..
http://www.skynet.be/jack-fr/green/doss ... 43115#main

Economic lamps may be useful for the preservation of the environment, they are not really a healthy alternative to incandescent lamps and halogen spotlights. On the contrary ! The economic lamp seems to be a public health hazard because this energy-efficient light source releases carcinogens, according to a recent German study.

A little confused!

1) Yes, mercury is a problem and the measures to be taken in case of breakage of these too little known bulbs (do not scattered the vapors by a vacuum cleaner!).

2) Yes, recycling does not always seem right ...

3) No, the incandescent bulbs do not restore a natural light!

4) UV, I don't know. But could easily, if true, be combated by putting the bulb in a "glass bubble" (halogens also emit UV en masse, hence the necessary anti-UV screen (a kind of tube in glass over the "pencil" - for those who have had those old 150W halogen lamps on a stand; often broken by the way, the tube!) ...

5) Headache, etc ... ??? I do not know. I just remember seeing light screens to treat the winter depression (very common in the Nordic countries) with neon tubes (well, tubes wrongly called neon, low energy light bulbs I should say) ...

6) Electric fields: yes. Like a bunch of electrical appliances: transformer [how many transformers in a modern house? GSM, such as wireless, PDA, laptops, low voltage lighting ...], microwave, LED lamps also having a "ballast", TV ...
In short, it is not an "ideal" and "perfect" thing. There are surely flaws. People who find out about this always leave me puzzled.

Hey hop it starts again! Link to the study please? Funded by whom?

A little light this article (nothing in fact) but lobbies do their job well undermine and sabotage eco solutions.

I speak only of so-called electromagnetic dangers (pollution / recycling is a real problem of this type of bulb: do not buy shit to 1 € piece).

a) I repeat it once again, fluocompates are based on the same physical principle as fluo-luminescent tubes (neon in everyday language).

So if they are dangerous then they are too.

Fluorescent tubes have been used for more than 80 years (in particular factories where we spend a lot of time).

So where are the health studies about them?

b) Is the Belgian Federal Government a liar?
