Recover the energy of my apartment bike to power ???

by kangaroo » 19/08/08, 19:16

Hello,

everyday I ride an exercise bike.
I would like to recover this driving energy and transform it into electrical energy which I could use for an electrical appliance, the winter for an electric heating, the summer an air conditioner.
I know it exists with the principle of dynamo, but there is no energy storage.

If someone can tell me how we can go about it, the equipment to buy? and if possible show me a little drawing of the solution

In the 50s and 60s, it was more or less like that that they supplied the radio transmitter of isolated Bush farms in Australia!

You know that you can heat yourself all winter with 2 buckets of charcoal: you place them at the bottom of the cellar staircase and when you are cold you take them and you climb the stairs 10 to 20 times. guaranteed result! :D
(but you spend more money on food : Cry: )

without hard feelings :D :D :D :D

Hi, I recommend a flywheel to place on the road, to take advantage of the freewheel / inertia effect, like on this ergometer:

after, a little effort good for health does not turn on the hair dryer, but can enlighten you with a low consumption light bulb for a while, much more than the time spent rowing: it all depends on your consumption ... and your endurance ;-)

Rabelaisian, your link falls on another link which is not valid, a retired IT specialist who has the idea of pedaling at the office, but there is nothing more, nothing concrete.

Jonule, the photo I do not distinguish the mechanism, the flywheel is the big disc that we see, but then where we recover the energy produced?

well this ergometer does not have the option "recovery of electric NRJ" because it is a prehistoric : Cheesy:

I laugh but it is necessary to recover by oneself the NRJ to the axis of the flywheel, it is to be manufactured unfortunately, but the device is relatively simple to build, there is the mechanism of bicycle type derailleur wheel free.

well it's a project; but the ergometer works all the muscles of the body ;-)

well what is it to add?
if you can make me a little diagram
on the other hand, a detail for the ergometer, in the seated position, the pedaling force is poor, nothing beats pedaling racing bike paired with automatic pedals

Hello,

What electrical power do you want?

You get an alternator, a battery, and an inverter and voila :D (It's easier said than done :D )

you have to do a search with:
Human Power Generator

ready-made devices
http://www.windstreampower.com/Human_Po ... erator.php

un forum on yahoo

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/hpwd/

an educational site

http://resources.schoolscience.co.uk/CD ... h4pg1.html

a plan for self-construction

http://www.los-gatos.ca.us/davidbu/pedgen/plans.html

I saw someone turn on several 60/100 W lamps
with his camera, but I can't find the link anymore ...

but by searching we find lots of ideas

no no the ergometer is a reproduction of the rowing rowing machine: you row with your legs ok, but also your arms, your body etc ...

for the plan it is easy, it is necessary to recover the axis. it is done with a bicycle chassis, well you have to make the sliding seat, then for the axle you have to keep the derailleur.
on the axis, you must put a flywheel (balanced mass) and recover the force on the axis to couple it to the current generator.

again the auto alternator is not the most suitable.
