Hello everyone,
I am looking for a software running on PC, allowing to write on the screen (more or less faithfully) what a person says.
Ideally, this software would be multi-speaker and English-speaking: I sometimes listen to such people speak and my ear has great difficulty separating words. On the other hand, when I read an English text, I have less trouble (well, relatively less trouble !!).
I know there are such systems. For example, in Youtube there is sometimes a tab which allows the approximate transcription of what is spoken in English, that changes everything!
I was told about Dragon, but this software learns the characteristics of a unique speaker and is able to write what the person says. In addition, it pays!
thanks (I know August is not the best month to ask such questions !!)

Well yeah ! Damn foreigners who are not even able to speak their language as it is written in the textbooks!
In Belgium, we have this problem with the Flemings: you ask them a question in the most perfect Algemeen Beschaafd Nederlands, and then they answer you a borborygme, which seems to be Flemish, and then, you are dumped!
for trying this kind of software you may be disappointed.
Nothing can replace training: everyday watch news in English or movies in original version, at least 1/2 hour a day. Start with cartoons. In one year, it should get better.

I will not be disappointed because I do not expect wonders, but an aid to understanding. Here is a video, for example:

by clicking on the "subtitles" tab and choosing the "English" line, you can see a rough transcription from oral to written, it's up to me to translate!

It's the best solution ! But I need a faster result than a year! My eyes read English but my ears don't understand it !!!

I too have tried and given up!
To my knowledge, even if he is multi-speaker, I believe he must have everyone's "voice print". It is necessary for that to read a standard text, which allows, after digestion, the software not to make too many mistakes.
In "one person" mode, mine made a lot of mistakes, and it became annoying to still be careful to dictate in a certain way (even if you speak normally; you should especially not "hack"). .
Fallen into oblivion as far as I am concerned ...

Didn't you learn it in high school? My son made his humanities in Paris and he understood English very well at 17 years old.

I am from a time that those under twenty cannot know ...
So I understand written English pretty well, but as for understanding it orally, that's another story. Hence my request for real-time transcription from spoken English to written English. But apart from Dragon, which is monolocutor and paying, I have not found the right software, even imperfect, like the one that exists on Youtube.
