It may be a function that has been around for a while, but I just discovered it: Picasa (3. has an image / face analyzer that allows you to automatically classify photos of people by putting a name on their faces.
I tested and it works pretty well once we have determined a few photos, 90% of the others are well analyzed.
The only "conflicts" that I have noticed for the moment are between parents and children, even of the opposite sex ... interesting, isn't it?
After yes I already hear some: beeeeeeeuh it's copying ... well yes but good enough to configure your firewall it blocks picasa and not to put the real names on the faces ...
To say that this kind of tool was usable, less than 5 years ago than by the Police or in research ...
There are identical tools on some smartphones. When you take a photo, it offers "similars" photos from the net.
On the other hand, I have not yet found the equivalent from 1 computer: an "image" search engine which would compare images by upload ... For the moment Google image only does a search by keyword. But I have no doubt that it will be available soon ...

You have to look, it exists. I had read that on a site dedicated to microinformatics about sites classified "X" which stole the photos among ... They had developed this type of application to avoid this "looting" and identify fraudsters. But then I didn't follow ....

Obamot has an answer above ...
I have more success with my avatar than yours:

It seems that the engine of tineye is too restrictive rigorous it finds only the images exactly the same ...
The similars on an Android smartphone are much more "flexible" in their search.
Bah as it is done by google, it should not be long I think as a service for all ... but as it must be damn greedy in resources, launching it on smartphone allows to limit requests and to test ...
