Measurement and form of SMD LED bulb and voltage Luxeon

by Christophe » 02/02/11, 15:07

Following this topic: https://www.econologie.com/forums/test-fluo- ... t7684.html and some questions / remarks on the form / type / value of the voltage applied to led bulbs, I made some measurements on 2 bulbs.

Measurements made with voltmeters: Multimeters

a) A 10W GU3 "PowerLed" bulb (based on a "Luxeon Star" a priori, see photos below): LED bulbs

b) An SMD ceiling spotlight with 45 LEDs:

Results:

a) Luxeon 3W

Real signal measurement:

Zoom and offset at 0V to measure the period = approximately 7 ms i.e. 143 Hz ...

B) Spot 45 SMD LEDs

It is not possible to measure led by led, because the leds are "melted" in a kind of protective gel (silicone?). Measurement of the overall voltage on 45 LEDs (in series therefore a priori). No "real signal" because the PPS only goes up to 100V so I only have the offset at 0V which has a frequency of 50hz.

Given the very different shape of the 2 signals, the method of current transformations is not the same.

Voila, I give the floor to electronics specialists.

I can make other measurements on request ... : Idea:

I answer the post of bernardd in the thread Fluo-compacts test on "Que Choisir" not to be HS there ...

bernardd wrote:In fact, I forgot that the 230V is the effective voltage, not the max voltage: thank you for your correction.

On the other hand, since it is precisely the "rms voltage": The rms value of a voltage U is the value of the constant direct voltage which would have the same effects as U on a purely resistive dipole.
The same effects can be reduced to the same average power.

One of the other effects may be to exceed the maximum admissible voltage of the device (concept which does not exist on a purely resistive dipole ...)

bernardd wrote:It is directly the DC voltage that we will have once straightened and filtered.
If we rectify with a diode bridge and we filter with a simple capacitor, we will have a voltage close to the max voltage of the sinusoid, that is 325V.
In fact a little less depending on consumption, but the few mA of LEDs do not represent much compared to the power available on the network.
