Generate wind for movie theater: wind tunnel, fan?

by blutsh » 09/05/11, 15:40

i am brand new in the forum and am not sure to post in the correct section.
bef, I am making a short film in an old abandoned factory, and I would like to install a fan or a blower to have a wind which would be around 25 to 30 km / h knowing that the room is roughly 7 m . high and 11 wide, the length does not matter, I have room. Does anyone have an idea? (and as I should certainly work quite a bit of time on these plans and pay for the electricity, any idea would be welcome ..)

So many people generate wind!
Here is a template for those who are less inspired: http://www.orgevalscope.com/potins/brill23.htm

Seriously, clarify your question a little better!
You ask for an idea on the necessary power, on the arrangement of the fans or on the possible recovery of fans?

the wind;-)

well my problem is the power I would need compared to the size of the room to have a can almost a wind equal to 5km / h, to have an almost similar effect on a few meters in length.

In the films (outdoor scenes) they often use heat engine blowers which strongly resemble large para-motors.

Depending on the depth of field of your scene, a paramotor might suffice.

What exactly do you want to film?

Little rough calculation:

7m*11m=77m²

30 km / h = 8,3 m / s

Your "blower" must therefore provide 77 * 8,3 = 640 m3 / s

It is therefore necessary to provide an acceleration of 8,3m / s² at 640 * 1.3 = 832 kg of air.

That is a mechanical power of 6905 W.

With electric fans, at least 10 kW of electrical power is required.
It is also necessary to ensure the arrival and evacuation or return by a suitable circuit of 640 m3 of air per second ...

I think it might be wiser to try to reduce the area needed?
