Disjunction: Box SFR on RJ45 that breaks the circuit breaker EDF?

by Fifi » 28/03/16, 21:24

Good evening, when I connect my ethernet cable from my box SFR fiber EDF circuit breaker 500ma trips my ethernet cable is 5e category, is this pb has already happened to someone and if I pass in category 6a, the pb could be solved thank you for your information cordially

Hello,

Uh your problem is pretty amazing, I do not think that changing the cable to CAT6 this solves the problem (I can not understand how it is possible but look ...) ...

I had router Linkys RJ45 which after 8 years of operation 24 / 24 completely began to delirious as soon as you plugged a cable RJ45 on 1 4 ports (but without doing anything jump at all electrical side ...)

a) the RJ45 network is not connected directly to the power grid (this would be dangerous enough for users and equipment) and to blow 500 mA is a big problem ...

b) where is the other side of the RJ45 CAT 5E cable connected and how long is it?

c) Are you sure it is an 500 mA and not an 300 mA?

d) Your box is new? How many years of operation? Did she take a lightning?

e) Do you have another box to test?

Bonsoir
This means that either your box or the other device at the end of your Ethernet cable has a ground fault, changing the category will not change anything 5 or 6 categories are data transmission speed standards.Attention against with your problem because if the circuit breaker 500ma triggers. 500ma is a deadly leakage current! You do not have an electrician who can look at this?

Yes 500 mA is much it is even surprising that devices do not burn (IT is still sensitive!) ... And logically EDF and Ethernet networks are physically decoupled ...

Unless the ethernet network goes through PLC ... in this case an internal fault of the CPL box could explain the physical connection between the RJ45 and the electrical network?

Fifi to tell us ...

Normally CPL systems are equipped with optocouplers to be physically separated from the network.

We need to tell you more about your network.

Yes it would need more info there ...

A CPL is physically decoupled from the network but a CPL internal fault could create this kind of problem?

A box is "logically" better decoupled EDF / Ethernet than a CPL not?

(I'm not a network hardware specialist but it seems logical to me ... still that a fault on the cable or the box could well create a defect of earth / phase / neutral which could go up in the network EDF but of the to pass the 500 mA in 230V it's huge it's more than 100W so it should smoke a little ... hold a clue to find the fault: looking for smoke lol!)

Hi,
The power of the box is not connected to the ground, it is rather the device connected to the other end of the ethernet cable which has a ground fault. A fixed PC, I suppose.
If it is the general circuit breaker that jumps, it may be the network card of this pc that is in default. Normally, the metal carcass of the pc is connected to the earth.

Do not take a chance with this kind of problem and ask an electrician for help instead of giving it up.

I just notified by email. It is clearly annoying the newcomers who ask a message and who do not give away ... :(
