For the figures given by the French government at the end 2013

Image

Already, it is not sure that the bulbs of low consumption and leds are taken into account, then they were not informed of http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:52007DC0739:FR:HTML (3.1) Opinion of the Member States on the current system

Belgium is in favor of maintaining the current system or, alternatively, of applying daylight saving time throughout the year.)

Is this mail authentic?

Because this figure is strange: 440 GWh for 800 000 homes.

That's a consumption of only 550 KWh ... or so it's just the lighting consumption of these homes (in this case it's a lot ... at the time of fluo and leds)

The annual consumption of France being about 450 TWh, the change of time saves 0.1% ...

Indeed, a big problem of numbers when we find that "The average consumption of a family in electrical energy is 6762 Kwh per year".
A look at the economy of 800 000 is over a month, the magic of numbers ...

PS: after research, this is the lighting consumption of 800 000 fireplaces http://www.presse.ademe.fr/2013/03/les- ... heure.html

In summer, I eat at solar noon,
either 10h35 in Strasbourg.

and 12h corresponds to 13h35 clock,
it's too hot to eat, at this time I digest.

Thank you for the link to the Ademe, more complete, cons cons they should specify for the consumption of 500 000 inhabitants (1200 GWH) and 800 000 (440), the last must be on a little more than two months if the first over a year, since we have three more consumption for half the population, and a ratio of 0.0055 or 0.0024.

500-> 000 = 800 GWH, so if it's for one year, 000 GWH is for less than a quarter.

The author defines a "reasonable" time slot for sunrise and sunset.
For a 9 am-17pm type activity, he considers "reasonable" that the sun rises before 7am and sets after 18pm

We then have for each card "set", on the left card the number of days per year when the sunrise is "reasonable" and on the right card the number of days per year when the sunset is " reasonable".

The darker the map, the lower the number of "reasonable" days.

The first deck of cards represents the current state with the time change:

The second card game shows what would happen by removing the time change by always staying in winter time:

We note that we improve much the map of sunrise by degrading a little that of sunsets.

The third card game shows what would happen if we removed the time change by always staying in daylight saving time:

It is found that we greatly improve the map of sunsets (even too much?) By degrading much that of sunrises.

Thank you Gaston, it's "a little" clearer (lol) ...

So obviously the best compromise, according to this study, would be to stay in winter time all the time?

The Map for Europe must obviously be similar so that we are at the same latitude ... and so the change of time would not be so effective as that?

In winter we have already lost an hour compared to the true solar time ... In summer it takes us two hours of shifting .... Basically we set the summer time upside down what it should have been ... I think it was just to get closer to our Eastern European confreres in terms of commercial activity ...
