Anonymous hackers launch the "Green Rights" operation

The hackers of the group of cyber-activists Anonymous have launched an ecological operation called "Green Rights". A first wave of computer attacks were carried out on Monday against the websites of Monsanto, Exxon Mobil, Canadian Oil Sands Limited, ConocoPhillips and Imperial Oil.

After having mobilized its hackers for the Arab Spring, demilitarization, the defense of freedoms on the Internet and Wikileaks, the group of cyber-activists Anonymous is moving towards environmental protection. Declaring that they cannot remain impassive in the face of ever-increasing environmental issues, the hackers have launched a first series of attacks carried out as part of an operation dubbed "Green Rights".

The Monsanto company, very controversial in its approach to agriculture and GMOs, has been the target of computer attacks on its website. The websites of Exxon Mobil, Canadian Oil Sands Limited, ConocoPhillips and Imperial Oil have also been targeted by hackers who believe them responsible for the destruction of the Montana desert.

In the case of the Monsanto attack, it was the computer data of approximately 2 employees that was stolen and distributed over the Internet. For the oil companies, the objective was to denounce an oil project between the United States and Canada and to reveal the corruption that surrounds it. Thus, that the denunciation of the exploitation of the tar sands in Alberta.

In a press release, the hacker group declared that they could not allow these environmental degradations to continue while standing idly by.
