[Solved] Android 9.0: Internal memory full on Samsung S8. Hidden VisionProvider system application to empty

by Christophe » 27/05/21, 12:57

I've been struggling for weeks with a worry of Android memory saturation on my Samsung S8 (2018) while, in my opinion, it is not really saturated!

The system indicates that the 64 GB (or 54 GB by removing the system, oh yes 54 GB anyway: Android has become heavier than Windows!) Are saturated !! Sometimes the camera does not even launch ...

But when I do more in-depth system diagnostics nothing indicates that the memory is full ... except that it is full! : Shock: : Shock: : Shock: : Shock:

I did a deep audit with Android Assistant: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... l=fr&gl=US
I have Malwarebytes Pro on it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... l=fr&gl=US
I also have a removable 16 GB SD memory card on it but it's kidding (too): one day it is accessible, one day it is not (indicated not formatted). I reformatted (on Android) but the problem persists and especially the old files are still there! : Cheesy: : Cheesy: : Cheesy:

I have tested the SD card several times on a PC: it is not detected.

It drives me crazy! : Cheesy: : Cheesy: : Cheesy:

I have the same ... Mainly caused by photos which are stored in double blind (see triple) on the telephone and the memory card .... It has happened to me since an update ...
Ditto for "contact" files and contact groups "...

Ah I feel less alone and less stupid as a result!

Yes I would say it started to fill up slowly 1 year ago ??? But I did not take 54 GB of photo or video even stored in duplicate!

Where the hell are these files hidden?

So you have solved? Have you looked?

Have you validated "see hidden files" in your file explorer?

In the "files" application, there is this option, but it must be original on my ouaoué

In case you haven't already encountered it:

Thank you very much for all this detailed information

I had done this afternoon almost everything you said except go see in "Storage settings" and dig a little, I finally found where the problem came from.

My storage settings showed more than 30GB of photos / videos even though I had deleted all my content in the phone's Gallery. BUT I found out that my deleted photos / videos are actually moved to a trash folder which is "hidden" in the Gallery menu. I had more than 7000 files stored in the recycle bin, hence the 30 GB ...

Not better: with the hidden files visible, the diagnostics show almost the same thing ...

In your Renaud link, I read:

So here's the mystery solved: all you had to do was empty the trash!

Trash can ? WTF? Where is she ???? : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen:

If it's the gallery's basket, mine only contained 57 MB ... so that's not it !!

I read the whole subject, nothing works Renaud : Cry:

It must be something else *!

These are really c0n ** ds at Samsung to code like sleeves! Or it's just part of * their obsolescence strategy !! : Evil: : Evil: : Evil:

I did everything that was indicated here on the OFFICIAL SITE https://www.samsung.com/fr/support/mobi ... ne-galaxy/

Solving the problem by putting in a new SD card is crap! It is not understanding and solving the current problem, it is just pushing it away!

IT WORKS PO !! CLAMERDE! SAMSUNLE !! : Mrgreen:

I never take a samsung again !! This S8 swelled me from the first weeks (like making a samsung account in addition to the obligatory gmail account, like Bixby of my 2 which is useless except to take resources)! My 2015 Sony Xperia is still in use and hassled me a lot less (but I had to change the screen twice ... ah the ravages of alcohol ... : Mrgreen: ) !!

Ah something else: for a few months the Battery of the S8 has started to seriously weaken ... without much use I am often <20% in the evening! The 2 concerns are perhaps linked?
