I tested on our hot wood stove and hot water pot in the dark with a Bresser IR Infrared night vision scope. It is a light amplification with IR option for in total darkness (an IR torch "illuminates" the objects to amplify the amplification).
Well sorry but it DOES NOT WORK AT ALL !! Not even on the first approach! Niet, zero ...
With or without the infrared torch: the heat is not at all "visible" ....
In short it is a false good idea and I assume that the sensor of our glasses is still better than that of a webcam ... unless the webcam is another technology ... but the verdant rendering is similar!
Nothing to do, the sensors of thermographic cameras have nothing to do with the sensors of video cameras (which react well to IR lighting, like IR's LED TV remote control).
It is not for nothing that the prices of thermographic cameras remain at least around 6000 euros. These sensors are also very low definition. Otherwise it would have been a long time that we would find them at 500 euros over the counter.

why look for a thermal camera? there are infrared thermometers! we can see them as a single pixel camera: it doesn't give an image but the temperature where we point it
he is right chatelot16 it is not a thermal camera but it is an infrared camera.
The thermal camera is a measuring device that records and captures the heat waves of a body.
By measuring the surface temperature of the walls, it provides an accurate picture of the quality of the insulation in a building. to find out more: batirama.com/article/l-info-actualites-entreprises-du-btp/1463-cameras-thermographiques-des-outils-incontournables-dans-le-batiment.html
