CFL flashing off?

by dreamer » 12/12/07, 00:27

Hello,
I noticed that a while ago, I stayed qq minutes in my room without light and I could see that the bulb had mini flashes every 5-6 seconds.
Is this normal? Serious? Bad sign?

Merciii :)

It would not be related to the ballast or the starter of the lamp ???

I say it like that pcq I don't know much about it ...

No I think these are disturbances due to electricity (static or from your network) ... try to remove the bulb from the base and see if it does the same.

explanation:

I noticed this when doing the consumption / yield tests (see eco lab) more than 1 year ago: https://www.econologie.com/forums/le-laborat ... -vf63.html

Well ... some bulbs "lit" (2 particularly and quite strongly all the same allowing to make a glow in the room) in contact with the fingers on the tubes.

But this only when the bulb was connected to the socket.

I therefore lean towards an electrical fault in the network and "static" disturbances.

What do the "experts" think?

A bit like the fluorescent tube under a high voltage line ...
Is that what you mean Christophe?

Personally, it seems plausible to me!

Consequently yes but less powerful anyway ...

In the causes I think it is something else otherwise it would work when the bulb is no longer in the base!

Dreamer must do the "unplugged" bulb test ... I bet it won't blink anymore ...

So there would still be an unexpected consumption of energy somewhere?

No, it's because there is a disturbance on its network that it does that !!

Surely a neutral fault ... or a conflict with other devices.

This thing is not systematic with fluorescent bulbs! Still happy :D

It would make strobscope!

I can already see the disco atmosphere in my living room ...
Thanks, but no thanks.

Well, back to our sheep, the problem could be solved by simply changing the brand or model of compact fluorescent bulb. If I understood correctly...

Bonjour Christophe

Chui not expert, but it is an old electrician's trick, to start the old fluorescent tubes which "flicker" a little too long before starting, you have to rub them with full hands and they start. The explanation I was given is that our body was "antenna"
and that it facilitated the ionization of the tube and therefore its starting.

In the same way, when an aging tube starts badly, it is sometimes enough to turn it over (right left) in its housing so that it starts again to start well ..... for a while. : Mrgreen:
