Google Photos free becomes paid: the alternatives

by Christophe » 25/05/21, 17:35

Google Photos Free ends June 1, 2021, here are the best alternatives

Google is changing the rules of Google Photos: you can no longer save your photos unlimited for free from June 1, 2021 but you are still entitled to 15 GB!

Summary of alternatives (there are certainly others)

0 solution: PAY GOOGLE PHOTOS

Prices start at 1,99 euros per month for 100 GB (which is not very expensive but far too much in GB!)

1 solution: BUY A GOOGLE PIXEL (lol if it's not abuse of dominant position that)

2 solution: Store at home on another medium (no kidding? old-fashioned what ... like we did for 15 years before the Cloud ... but it's certainly too painful and difficult for the millennials! : Mrgreen: )

3 solution: Amazon Photos

If you are a Prime subscriber, Amazon Photos is the best alternative because you have unlimited storage.

4 solution: MICROSOFT ONEDRIVE

5 solution: DROPBOX, KDRIVE, PCLOUD, FLICKR ... et cie ...

Solution 6 (made in Econology): stop your dirty habit of compulsive photos and videos for anything and everything ... If you took as many photos and videos as in the days of film, the still free 15 GB would certainly be enough for you. .100 years : Cheesy:

HOW TO EXPORT AND SAVE YOUR PHOTOS FROM GOOGLE PHOTOS?

Now that you have your future solution, it's time to go to recover and backup your photos from Google Photos. Google offers a service called Takeout which will simplify all that. To go a little faster, do not hesitate to first click "Deselect all" then check the Google Photos section in the list that appears on the screen.

Then, you have to click on "Next step" at the bottom, configure certain details (file size, sending method, etc.). Finally, just start the export.

I presented TakeOut not too long ago here: electricite-electronic-informatique / google-takeout-save-all-your-google-data-and-it-is-heavy-t16812.html

This is what I do too. There is no question of relying completely on online services. Let us remember the recent OVH affair!

Yes, finally google is not OVH ... google data certainly has triple redundancy ...

But risk 0 does not exist ... use take out regularly!
