The problem with wood is that indeed, its real performance is not sufficiently well represented by the raw figures. In fact, a solid wood house, whatever the technique used, will consume less energy than a house of equivalent performance but having mineral walls !
Why ? Because we cannot measure the "feeling" brought by a wood interior which means that we do not need to heat as much. A recent study (commissioned by plank builders) showed that the interior temperature was lower in this type of habitat, for greater comfort. This plus the fact that wood manages humidity excellently and that it brings a rather interesting inertia explaining this ...

That said, it is not enough to achieve significant thermal performance: a passive house, or even low consumption, can not be solid wood!

So there is a choice to be made ...

YO

Well what you say there, Lumberjack, but apart from the wood that you use in the construction of the house ???

NO don't tell me that you are considering half-timbering and cob

Timber frame with load-bearing platform.
In form, it is actually a bit like half-timbering, except that we do not fill with mud, but with insulation, it is much more energy efficient ...
