Well hello to you Deepfield and welcome to econologie.com.
For, water management I ask myself the same questions (Bizarre no? 2 different heads and the same questions! Unless ...: rolleyes:)
For my part, I thought about using 2 water circuits: one drinking, and the other sanitary (garden, toilets, washing machines ...).
I do not know the filtering techniques but the question is asked ...
I also thought that the water had to be stored upstairs, the gravity making which down all alone for the washing machine ....
I hope the subject will interest a lot of people

Hi loxo;)
Okay, let's start this forum, so I'm not a specialist in water but I have some information on it:
1) the reverse osome is a micro filtration so NOTHING does not even pass some virus ... it is a way to get drinking water based polluted water (see very polluted) .. the pb c du does the fineness of the filter's pores about 2 / 3 water is spoiled after 1er filtration .... (at least in appliances)
moreover the filtration is very slow and therefore requires a storage (or the water may "rot") ... in fact I do not think that recovering rainwater for consumption is a good idea ... cons for sanitary I say YES!
2) There is system of rainwater recovery in Germany I was with friends in 94 it seems to me that had already been for many years (storage in barrels 200 L blue) and it was not DIY ... get information from German builders
Here I hope it will help you ...

Interesting all that, I did not know about reverse osmosis Thank you
In addition, I'm interested (it intrigues me the joysticks ...) the work and processes of Schauberger, Grander and Plocher ( http://www.grander.com, http://www.rplocher.com/ )

Hi everybody
Very nice site, pity we are so few (for now).
Like all of you I am interested in the ecological economy in all its aspects.
By providing us with the means to produce (and therefore consume) energy and natural resources at a local level, science can help us develop a real ecological awareness. By centralizing all its means of production, our societies have largely disempowered individuals. Out of sight out of mind.
On rainwater harvesting, I understand that concrete tanks must be favored to neutralize acidity and thus prevent erosion of the pipes. In addition the water will be enriched in mineral elements which helps to improve its taste quality. However, it is necessary to ensure the safety of said concrete and check its composition with the manufacturer before launching.
Rainwater is no more polluted than spring water. In France, more than 80% of the fresh water reserves are unfit for consumption if the water is not treated. So, whether rainwater, spring water or river, it will treat (filtration) to make it consumable.
The real problem is the actual cost of such an installation compared to the current mains water. We already know that the price of this water is destined to fly in the years to come, the cost of reprocessing wastewater growing.
This must be profitable if one includes its design in the construction project of a new home. In the long run so ...
