Maybe see if a capacitor has not inflated and replace it.

If it has exploded, there is a risk that conductive and corrosive liquid has been spilled on the circuit. Cleaning not obvious.

It should be checked with an ohmmeter, the least power must be right next to the respective pins and probably connected together.

- Once, on the power stage of my synth, I had a capacitor that had flowed at the level of the connection wires. Once the guilty capacitor unsoldered, I put the circuit with ... water, simply, and an old toothbrush. A brush stiff bristles was also used to access the places a little tightened! After a good drying in the "hair dryer" and rewinding of other capacitors (replacement of the second which was good - symmetrical power supply!), It is "left for a ride"!
- It goes without saying that previously, following a reset failure of the synth, I also replaced "fuiteux" transistors that reset at power up. But fortunately, I also have the scheme of my synth, "workstation" synth (a GEM WS2-II) that still dates from August 1993, and still in good working order! The last modification was the replacement of the floppy disk drive (an Epson SMD300, also mounted on the Atari ST computers) by initially another floppy disk drive (which worked very well after reversing 3 threads from the tablecloth! ) and, lastly, a Gotek Chinese emulator which, using a USB key, allows me to have 1000 diskettes "under the elbow"! I had also replaced the speakers that had the suspensions (between the membrane and the bowl) "disintegrated"!
- The Gotek emulator is one of the easiest to use. You format a usb stick of 2 Go in FAT16 (and not in FAT32!) And, once the key is formatted, you create on this key folders named 001, 002, 003 ... which are then so many floppy images. Once your styles are created, you put them in the memory of the emulator (You choose your "diskette" before!) And you transfer them to your usb key!
- That's about the changes to my workstation that allows me to play music with an "old" 1993 keyboard! Given the sound he has, I will not change "for all the gold in the world"!
- Cordially. @ +!

"" Not enough found as sound nowadays, your synth! So nice. Ah, but the top is also the Gotek USB ^ _ ^ ""
- That you can say : Cheesy: ! One can even afford the luxury of "adjusting the percussion skins" or the size of bells or triangles by varying the sampling frequency : Mrgreen: ! And the GOTEK is the SFRM72-FU-DL which is also mounted on the computer Atari ST (because this synth is also released at the same time as the Atari computer and programmed with Cubase or Pro24!)!
"" Well, it's true that ... these examples are not the music of the islands, Reunion, coughed ... You had to do something else, "nose less" it gives a slight idea of the 'instrument...""
- Well yes: as it is a "workstation", it is programmed, even if there is only 4 accompaniment tracks (5 if you play another synth solo!)! And so, I programmed my synth for it gives me Reunion styles in 7 / 8 (7 crooked by measure, if you know the music - it's 7 / 8 4 time!)! I even allow myself the luxury of programming it via my computer and a USB / MIDI module! I kept the fruit of my programming not only on the USB key, but also on my computer and even on an external HDD! In addition, on the late download site that was chronicling at the time (megaupload), I was able to recover all diskettes it was intended before its closure! And of course, I loaded everything on the usb key!
- Do not forget that mine is the WS2-II, with the drumkit and more compared to the WS2!
- Here: if you also have one or if you know a friend who has one, I'll "punt" a few tips for him!
- Cordially ! @ +!

- Aaaahhhh oooouuuaaaaiiiiisssss!? ... You do not believe!? ... Well if you explore the menus of this keyboard (if you have ecure or if you can see in a friend), you'll see that we can do a custom drumkit, which no longer allow other current workstations that have simply "sabred" all these settings!
- It's like the Atari computer: it had at the time an operating system (the TOS) which was much more powerful than the DOS and, already, a graphical interface!
- Here! Read a little the user manual that I published on this site:
http://fr.audiofanzine.com/clavier-arra ... -pdf-6355/
- There are variants on the WS2 and WS2-II, which are not quite the same!
- The WS2 does not have the drumkit. But the WS2-II has it, in addition to the appropriate settings!
- Cordially. @ +!

Hello !

hey i was only joking: OBVIOUSLY i believe it (knowing it)! It was in a good mood, I was in the "implied"
of course I understood: in jazz / soul / funk, it's been a long time since they "tune" the percussion instruments ...
it's not given to everyone to know it ... in fact few people know that percussion is "accordess".

And above all an important point, there are people who listen, but "do not hear"these subtle variations ... you need a little initiatory journey, a"education"with his own ears to access it ... and there we discover a whole hidden world!

It's an infinite world of subtleties and wealth, and I appreciate you talking about this fascinating subject.
I do not doubt for a second that we can do it with your keyboard: it's a very interesting subject for me.

the next time you see a "smiley in parenthesis => ( : Cheesy: ) is that I am pleasing ... : Lol:

PS: this passage from their site, seems to say it, we can do it in different ways (and even in "decreased" or "increased" on sounds imported from percussion recorded oneself!)

Yamaha wrote:Drum kit
"tuning the pitch up or down, and setting a Velocity and Key Range to which the sample will respond when placed in the Voice"

Source: https://www.yamahasynth.com/resources/i ... a-drum-kit
Finally, I am not a specialist, but it seems to me that this is it: because be careful, there the "pitch"does not mean the variation of the speed, (since this depends on the musician and his dexterity to play) but variation of the tones! Since changing the pitch, de facto changes the tone !!!

Yamaha Motif wrote:Pitch (pitch)
This section controls the pitch of the sound (wave) produced by the oscillator. In the case of a normal voice, you can detune individual elements, apply the Pitch Scaling function, and so on. In addition, setting the PEG (pitch envelope generator) allows you to control the variation of tone over time.
You can adjust the pitch parameters in the Pitch (pitch 71) and pitch (pitch envelope generator) screens (72 page) of the Voice Edit mode, respectively. Note that the pitch parameters of a drum voice can be set in the Oscillator screen

Detune
Adjusts the tuning of the part in increments of one hundredth.
Settings: -12.8Hz - + 0Hz - + 12.7Hz

Shift Note *
Adjusts the pitch of the part in semitones. Settings: -24 - + 0 - + 24

sources: http://download.yamaha.com/search/produ ... id=1073317

... so p'têtre well qu'oui :P but it does not detract from the quality of your workstation. : Wink:

PS: and then reread the 5 first lines of the post that you did not understand ,,,,
