Double-acting water + steam cylinder on boiler

by orbs » 24/12/08, 17:39

Hello
I let go:
after seeing the water rise in the espresso machine. I have developed a boiler which sends, thanks to the pressure generated during boiling, water from the bottom of the boiler; which allowed me to activate a double-acting pneumatic cylinder (hydraulic in this case).
well on the ejected water is put in recirculation.
what do you think in terms of potential return on the thermodynamic plan.

without interest !

if you use water pressure to run an engine you empty the boiler: to fill it you need a pump which consumes at least the same power as the engine plus losses ... the boiler would be useless

the principle of the steam engine is precisely that the steam leaves the boiler in much larger volume than the water which enters: the power of the steam engine is therefore much greater than the power of the feed pump

good evening, good christmas, good alka
in fact the water used by the cylinders returns to the boiler through a system of personal design, and which therefore consumes little power.
what will interest me is the energy / work balance in the proposed cycle

ImageHi Orbs:
If you recover heat from your cylinder to heat your house, it becomes cogeneration, so it may become profitable.
