in fact I say offset to simplify, but the whole curve in general increases all its values on all the curve.
you can choose to clamp this reprog on the torque peak with a line of type y = 300nm of torque, maximum value of your old programming.

The programmers are just waiting for the manufacturers' codes so as not to hack blindly or even see the vehicle blocked (there is security).
the worst being the boxes which deceive the eprom and its calculations ...

for example my engine develops 300nm of torque in 2010, and the manufacturer without changing anything apart from the eprom released 340 in 2012 with 40hp more, more than the "soft or thoughtful" reprog of the preparers. This therefore reassures me on the efficiency and longevity of the reprog since the manufacturer himself does it more violently.
if a reprog from a manufacturer was not worth 1000 to 1500th, it goes without saying that I would have gone there with my eyes closed, since they offer this reprog themselves.

far from me the idea of praising this practice, because it is not always justifiable, but depending on the car and especially the engine it is justified.
moreover, manufacturers are keeping margins to meet the consumption / pollution requirements for one year and allow themselves to spend the following just with a small manufacturer's reprog (and sometimes a little more).
the only car whose reprog was negative on the couple to pass in eco2 that I know are the 1,5dci at dacia in version 2010 it seems to me, all the others increase.
but from 2012 the manufacturers released new engines, the old ones being hardly more usable to maintain the consumption / performance / pollution / approval ratio.
it's amazing when you think that in normal driving the new AMGs consume as much or even less than the smallest mercedes engines 10 years earlier : Shock:

to return to the reprog, the preparers are all equipped or almost all of the same equipment as their competitors and all offer a few values near, the same admissible modifications to avoid damaging the engine. they are not therefore sorcerer's apprentices who promise mountains and wonders.
it is a pity as underlined above that it is not more pragmatic people who realizes these mods, but I think I can without sending me too many flowers to correspond to this category of person and to give you a return on the felt and the average consumption .
doing only the same daily trips will not be complicated even if I do not promise the same requirement as Citro.

Hope to hear from you.
But I repeat, without a few measures before modification, the measures after modification will lose credibility ...

Julien has a big heart, because it's a lot of work for in the end ... sometimes peanut.

Finally I speak for the average citizen, who rolls cushy and does not ask too many questions (90% of drivers?)

And he shows perseverance, The interest is that we learn tricks! nevertheless should we not weigh certain arguments?

I will teach nothing to julien88 that we live in a universe where planned obsolescence is king. Hence the dangers that go with it. So, I wonder if we should not rather restrain the momentum of our cars to increase their lifespan ... (?)

In any case, the "manufacturer reprograms" can very well be explained. As by way of example:
- a success on a "seller" model of the brand, leads the manufacturer to make the vehicle more reliable while increasing its performance. Admittedly, it reprograms but not without having made more resistant the valve seats, increased the body of the connecting rods, reinforced the piston rings or whatever ... And that how to know (?) ... So innocently we will try to boost performance, but possibly without reinforcements that are going well.

To run on ethanol (E85) I'm also trying to reprogram : Mrgreen: (vade retro satanas ...) with a Daihatsu Gran Move 1,6 (yes I know ... but she slept in a closed garage at night, is perfectly healthy, and I paid only 800 roros with 116 ' 000 on the clock) but the difficulties are innumerable. Everyone knows that the company belongs to Toyot, and that they share the components to make economies of scale. But nowhere have I found someone who can tell me what engine the red giant was about! The secrets are well kept at home ... I suspect it would be the engine of the SUV version of the Corolla, but I have neither the proof nor the certainty. However it is not for lack of having tried to survey the web for several days and in particular a famous forum Polish...! (Slavs must be good enough in this kind of exercise? Very few means lead people to get rid of more ...)

I have already increased the ignition advance by 4 ° angular, but here I must find a way to enrich the mixture: either by physically increasing the arrival section of the pipes to the injectors, or by OBD by increasing slightly the "duration of force-feeding".

I bought an OBDII which should correspond to the model year 2000, problem, the pinning of the plug is owned by them.

As we can see, if the world of reprogramming is strewn with pitfalls and difficulties, it is not by pure chance ...!

For this kind of project, the emulator strategy used on the GPL assemblies seems to me the most relevant.

And you're lucky, a member of the forum, in the person of nlc created an assembly of this type specifically dedicated to ethanol.

So start a little research on the forum, you will find. :P

Hair pile what I needed, thank you Citro! Image

So this is what is said everywhere, the computers are already capable of handling any type of ethanol mixture (E85 included). It should therefore automatically compensate / adapt on its own, like a big one. There remained the advance (but it's done). You could order a flashlube kit to preserve the epicetou valve seats.

It eventually shows our new friend that changing the specifications, if we go for it, can be more difficult than it seems! Indeed, if one makes such or such correction and that the calculator rectifies behind all alone according to the criteria for which it is programmed to function, then there one is bad ...! We can plug a bazaar not possible right? Predictable engine failure?

Happy New Year everyone !
I will try to give an objective opinion on my experience based on a motor home motorhome Mercedes 312D reprogrammed by a renowned specialist a short decade ago and with whom I have driven approximately 50000 km since this modification.

Advantage:
The more this couple is obvious, and for a campsite because this excess torque avoids downshifting at the end of a roundabout or at the bottom of a hill.
Slightly lower consumption at equal speed.

disadvantages:
More torque means you can spin the clutch if you don't pay attention!
More torque does not mean more speed, indeed it would also require a more gearbox to stay at an acceptable engine speed. Speed is not the goal on a campsite, but climbing the odds without losing speed too much and without having to downshift is an undeniable advantage.

In conclusion, I have never regretted my investment but I think that this reserve of power / torque should only be used wisely because a modification of this type has consequences on the whole of the mechanics and if the rest has not been reviewed in the same direction, it can suffer if we are not careful.
In other words 150CV obtained celon this principle will not bring as many advantages as a mechanical assembly plus transmission of 150CV initially designed by the manufacturer or still said in another way, a motor of 150CV associated with a transmission of 120CV can leave appear some weaknesses.

In addition, given this experience, I would not make this modification on a light vehicle because it seems completely superfluous on this kind of vehicle.

Good subject that :D

I had it done on Renault 2.0 DCIs
No worries as long as you "respect" the mechanics, namely, do not pull on the engine before heating it up.

The approvals are important, torque gain at low speed, modified accelerator stroke (improved driving pleasure), increased power and fuel consumption.
On the other hand I noted a slightly higher sound level, and I did not control the pollution
I know that the torque is limited to stick to the resistance limits of the gearbox at 360 NM, however I did 60 km from 000 to 320NM without paying attention, without any worries.

It is also very interesting to do it on "business" version tax-free, of the 2.0 DCI 130 style on company areas, a repro and hop you can upgrade to 150 or 180hp

Hi everybody!
I haven't been here for a long time, the forum has changed since then!
Regarding engine reprogramming, I wanted to know what some people thought about the additional box here? Apparently, some pros do not use it because it is a visible element that can easily be detected: https://www.diapason-motorsport.com/boi ... ion-moteur On the other hand, can they be more relevant in terms of fuel economy or is it the same with engine reprogramming?
Afterwards, I guess it depends mainly on the vehicle you are driving with and its characteristics ...

Re: For or against engine reprogramming?

Hello,

It will be more and more complex to tinker with engine electronics
The repro of the ECU is a safe bet, the thing is that the programs contain a multitude of parameters to ensure the passage to the bench for the regulation on discharges, tax restraints etc ...
it is a compromise between consumption, performance, pollution and sticker

I do not know the additional boxes, but they can a priori only change the input values of the computer on the air T °, pressure and measurements accessible from the connectors of the probes, it seems limited to me

An easy thing to do to reduce its consumption, is to deceive the air temperature sensor by assigning a summer temperature, of the order of 40 to 50 ° C, suddenly the computer will inject less fuel, the power will be reduced too and I don't know what it will give in Nox ... :-)
