Re: Diesel Car: consume less with a little SP95

Hello
Ok for SP95, but can we put E85? (sorry if it has already been discussed but I do not have the courage to reread 90 pages!)
If I got it right, is it also good for a CDI engine?

By adding 5% HBV, can it freeze in the tank? (this question would be more related to my post on the webasto)

Yes yes most of the tests were done on Hdi, cdi ... in short common rails! And it works automatically on old diesel!

Currently I drink (10% petrol) from a common fiat rail ... without any worries and I think I have gained 50 km of autonomy, confirmation in a few days (I have 400 km of fuel left).

For E85, there is an answer here: eat-less car / car diesel-eat-less-with-a-little-of-sp95-t5849-680.html # p159677 (uses the internal search engine: search.php )

Apparently with him it worked even better than gasoline: it is quite logical that E85 has one octane (therefore resistance to compression) and a higher "volatility" than gasoline!

My next full I try 10% E85!

5% this will not freeze the fuel but it may have paraffinization (glitter in suspension) during very cold weather. Please note, HVB and Diesel are not miscible (unlike petrol or E85)! See test: https://www.econologie.com/miscibilite-huile-gasoil/ et biofuel / diesel-incompatible-with-the-oil-t1984.html

In short I will not attempt HBV in winter on a common rail ... even at low dosage!

Hello Christophe, were you able to try out with the E85?

No, but it is planned: the nearest e85 pump is 30 km away ...

In terms of consumption I have a little better (0,2 l less) not much then but I find that I drive faster and sportier than before since the engine goes up faster in turn ...

Not easy to be objective in road tests ... especially like me who does not regularly make the same trip ...

Here! I did the 1st full yesterday: 5.01L of E85 (for 3,5 euros ...) mixed with 53 L of diesel (standard) after a hundred km, the on-board computer gives 5.4L / 100 km

My previous full with 5L of SP95 for 53 L of diesel (standard), I was at 5.2L / 100 km. Same driving condition (same routes, same speed) ...

In both cases, I therefore have a "lighter" fuel% of 2/5 = 58%

I think the next 2 full I will go up to 10% then 12% so 6 and 7L instead of 5L ... first in SP95 since the E85 does not improve except financial (the engine seems more flexible with the SP95 ... but it's very very subjective) ...

There is a bioethanol plant in the Marne, so a few tens of km from the pump where I was refueling: I hope it supplies there (circuit shorter than any petroleum fuel )

Last thing, I put 10L of Excellium diesel between these 2 full (SP95 and E85) and the on-board computer gave 5,6L / 100km ... so there is a significant improvement with the 5L of SP95.

To be continued when I have done more km with the E85 ...

ps: it was the first time in my life that I touched an E85 pump, so I felt the gun (no no I did not try to drink it !!!) and it still smells a lot of gas ( = 15% petrol smells more than 85% ethanol ...)

Hi,

I had done a test on a Clio 1 1,9d engine.
Tested mixture of 2 to 10% of SP 95 ... More too many memories of the savings made but I noticed that the engine stalled from time to time at idle at a fire for example, hot engine.
Not this concern before when the car was running only on diesel.

If someone has feedback on this problem?

Disappearance of the problem when I stopped the SP 95-diesel mixture ...

Weird especially with only 2% of SP ... I think that the setting on the injection should be out of adjustment or too sharp or too worn? How many km the car?

Well I finished the first full with 8.4% E85 and it works well in my case!

I gained 100 km of autonomy ... and the computer indicates 5,1 L / 100 km (my absolute record for 2 years that I have this car)

Before I was refueling at 850 km ... I could have done it at 950 km ...

In fact I have the impression that the more we roll with the mixture, the more there is effect and it makes sense (the engine cleans)

I gave 6L of gasoline for the next full (E85 pump too far) so I go to 10,3% ... case to follow!

The on-board computer indicates 5.0 L / 100 over 200 km already achieved at 10% ... good then do not dream it will certainly not go down much more than that! But 5L for a car from 2005 and 1.6T is not bad!

No idea about the% when the engine stalled. I did not ask myself a question on an injection bp since everything returned to normal by driving only on GO. The car must have had around 250 km at the time. It was up to 000 km then sold ...

A priori no other experimenter has noticed this? No doubt the pump was a little worn or adjusted "to the limit" ...

Was it a conventional or common rail diesel?

A common rail engine has the advantage of regulating the injection according to N * parameters ... so if it feels that the engine will stall, it adapts the injection ...

* at least! : Mrgreen:
