IESPM engine oil analyses: wear and engine mechanics, comparison of values and results

Tips, advice and tips to lower your consumption, processes or inventions as unconventional engines: the Stirling engine, for example. Patents improving combustion: water injection plasma treatment, ionization of the fuel or oxidizer.

IESPM engine oil analyses: wear and engine mechanics, comparison of values and results

View Christophe » 02/08/23, 10:18

I open this topic to talk about engine oil analyzes that allow preventive maintenance (or not) on high-mileage engines or other components using lubricating oils (such as gearboxes). This is very interesting for estimating the wear of certain components.

I have indeed just received the analysis of my saab of not far from 280 km. Not too bad for a grandma from 000...

You see Macro, the Turbo is worn out but is not (yet) dead (a priori...)...but against I believe that the Kennol will be my 1st and last oil change!

Coincidence Remundo has just made one too. But it's a gasoline hybrid that runs on E85, so it's hard to compare directly...

In short, I invite all economists who drive with slightly high km (> 150 km) to do this kind of test. Mark? This should interest you...
You can order your kits here: https://www.iespm.com/diagserver/Kit

(you will find cheaper on the net but I do not guarantee that the results are as precise... there we already have 2 feedback...)

I think I'll do another analysis on my granny when I've passed 320 km...(if she's still driving by then...)...and I'll put a better quality oil next time oil change (I think to do it around 000 km as a preventive measure...)

To be continued...

ps: timing level I sent the sample on July 25 (afternoon) and received this morning by email...so it's rather very fast as a treatment...I don't know if the fact that this is the vacation speeds up processing time or slows it down...

What time did you have Remundo?

Does anyone know how to interpret the "Wear Index" number on the top engine?

You have to be scared to reassure yourself by asking for a new analysis in 15000... It's a juicy business, fear... You'll see a fiat engine that doesn't warn you, it dies suddenly.. .

What time did you have Remundo?

around 1 month, but the mail had fumbled (49-3 strike against the pension reform).

This is the same technician who analyzed our samples :)

Otherwise I just passed the 200 km with the GTE000+

the internal combustion engine about 80 km. So still in his youth.

That said, personally, the contamination of the oil by fuel would alert me to a 100% thermal vehicle....I don't know how its hybrid works but I can imagine the operating sequences of the thermal engine being short and not allowing good engine warm-up ... So being a good driver in this case will consist (in my opinion) in increasing the frequency of replacing the oil of the thermal engine ... Or running it with fuel for which it was designed... After I think that Remundo is a formidable calculator of economic profitability... And that therefore... The amortization of the vehicle is well planned...
