Sikaflex 11FC, the magic of promo batch marketing from Leroy Merlin and Sika?

by Christophe » 14/09/22, 13:19

To finish my trailer: self-construction-and-do-it-yourself/renovation-and-aerodynamic-improvement-of-a-closed-trailer-bpw-t17276.html I still needed the excellent sealant that is Sikaflex 11FC...

I had bought the first 2 cartridges at the material court of Leroy Merlin in Charleville-Mézières at 8.5€ each...(which is already a not bad price at the moment knowing that any other cartridge, basic silicone included, can exceed 12 € in this same store : Lol: : Lol: : Lol: )

Yesterday I go back to Leroy Merlin (to buy something else) and I come across a batch of Sika "Pro Select" putty in the store (not at the Cour des Matériaux which has its own cash register). I no longer had the 11FC reference in mind...and the packaging was different, I notice the "Pro Select" on it and so I tell myself that it's another product "a little more pro" so... 8)

Back home: damn it, both are Sikaflex 2-FC : Mrgreen: ...

The promotional lot costs €8,95 per cartridge VS €8.5 per cartridge... : Lol:

It's not for the small price difference, because the product is very good even if it was 10€ per cartridge, (it's probably one of the best cartridge products I've ever used and I've used some a few good dozen in my life as a handyman...) but it's for the principle... : Shock:

ps: downside, I just saw while writing this message that on the label of the lot it is WHITE...the other is GRAY (indicated beige) which could explain this...the color is not clearly indicated on the cartridge (very small near the barcode)!

Not on Remundo, so a quick check on Amazon:

The lot would be 11FC EVOLUTION at 12.58€ per cartridge at home (so the promo lot is legitimate)...and there is also 11-FC PRO cheaper than the evolution... : Shock:

Are they purposely confusing people or what?

I would love to see a comparative gas chromatography of all the "variants" of 11FC!! : Lol: : Lol: : Lol:

In the same family at the Post Office... stamps more expensive than pre-stamped envelopes : Lol: : Lol: : Lol: : Lol:

Nah but seriously? There's really something that goes more smoothly with some people...sorry, some are really crazy! : roll: : roll: : roll:

For the stamps, it's easier to print on the envelopes, no pseudo self-adhesive, no pre-cuts ....

When at the promo, this kind of "misadventure" happens from time to time...

The articles are not "computationally well linked"....

It is mandatory that the customer finds himself there, and we do not have the right to make a pack of X pieces, more expensive than X times the price of a piece ....

Ditto for the X% free....

I fired my first SIKA Evolution cartridge yesterday...

It sticks much more to the fingers than the "normal" 11FC: neither acetone nor white spirit can remove it easily...I'm ruining my keyboard!! : Mrgreen:

In short, I confirm that it is not the same product.
