More judgments that have nothing to do with"These basins are used to keep the excess water during the winter, so as not to have to use the natural reserves in the summer."...
It's all Guitou who always needs to throw his gall, whatever the subject. : roll:

I practice it myself to store water in the winter to irrigate my garden.

It's just wrong. But you insist, proof that you roll for lobbies or that you still don't understand anything.
The people he defends are convicted thugs (Serge Bousquet-Cassagne and Patrick Franken), the basins are heresy:

“It is nonsense to create water reservoirs on the surface. The water harvested in the reservoirs is water that should have ended up in the ground or in the waterways”, points out Christian Amblard, specialist in water and hydrobiological systems and honorary director of research. at the CNRS, at the microphone of our colleagues from France Info. The scientist assesses the loss of water due to evaporation "between 20% and 60%" and believes that for "good management of water resources, everything must be done so that it infiltrates into the ground" and “promote the creation of wetlands that function like sponges”. Quite the opposite is therefore expected.

It takes a rainy winter to be able to store!

Otherwise these basins which descend directly to 15m will store water better than a dam flooding a small valley? (less evaporation)

Where does this come from? :?: :?:
A report says it's negligible https://www.deux-sevres.gouv.fr/content ... 072020.pdf (see end of page 2)

I took the vice a little further : Twisted:
According to this FAO document, we can find an annual evaporation rate of 0,319 m/m² https://www.fao.org/fishery/docs/CDrom/ ... 705f02.htm

I'm not saying that the calculation is good, it would take a precise reading on site, but I had fun seeing what it looked like for a real project https://www.cher.gouv.fr/content/downlo ... nnerie.pdf

60000 m3 for 10000 m², we get 0.05% annual evaporation loss : Shock:

Another "scientist" with a big melon who has a great need to be talked about Image...Reminds me of someone...Uh! several that are often quoted here : Twisted:

ME, I wouldn't want to get involved in something I don't know, but a certain fact, leave a bucket of water in the cellar, 1 year, full, and after a year, look at the level .... it went down, huge, clearly visible, so much more than 0.05%, and it's not in the sun, in a temperate environment....

So I have a doubt...

Critters may have drank from the bucket, maybe.... the bucket has a micro leak, maybe.... what do I know....

It seems incoherent to me....

There are quite a few parameters to take into account and it is not because the temperature is low that it does not evaporate, it also depends on whether it is ventilated (basement) ... and moreover, is it raining in your basement?

I let you calculate https://www.thermexcel.com/french/program/piscine.htm

Irrigation: basins cause serious water pollution
by Marc Laimé, November 28, 2019

In Poitou-Charentes, the collective “Bassines non merci” will publicly present on Friday, November 29 the results of analyzes carried out in existing basins which attest to serious contamination of the water by cyanobacteria and legionella.

The reserves made on natural soil are ultimately better? ; Fish can acclimatize (despite variations in levels).

Cyanobacteria can also grow in ponds with heat.

Only when the natural balance is broken, when biodiversity disappears, when the waters are "stressed" in one way or another (runoff from crops treated "agro-chemically" and/or fertilized anyhow with anything like slurry, various pollutions, in short). A pond, a body of water in good health has clear water in summer and winter. You can't compare a basin languishing in the sun with a body of living water that has sometimes existed for centuries.

The water in the rivers is not as clear as it was 20 or 30 years ago.

In marshy areas in the presence of nutria (invasive species), if the water is poorly renewed in winter (stored in basins) leptospirosis will develop...

I said above that you really need rainy winters.
