Severn Cullis-Suzuki speaks at the age of twelve on the environment and sustainable development at the UN conference in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992
In 1992, at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Severn Cullis-Suzuki, a child of 12, challenged leaders around the world on the humanitarian and ecological situation of the planet.
In 2009, Severn is a young woman of 29 who is about to give birth to her first child. This feature-length documentary puts Severn's 1992 speech in perspective with her vision of the 2009 world. What has happened since 18 years? What environmental commitments have been made? What emergencies and new challenges is the world facing?
To echo Severn's arrests, and to respond resolutely optimistically to the disappointments she points to, the film sets out to highlight positive initiatives that are being carried out around the world by remarkable people. This documentary takes each of us back to a universal and essential question: what world will we leave for future generations?

ps important: I am afraid that this film is still a bit dramatico-pessimistic (What what? Who said realistic, I heard!) leaving little room for global solutions. Presenting local initiatives is very good but what about the main problem of Kyto: climate change? Because it's the title of the film ...
