Addiction to meat is not physiological like tobacco, alcohol, etc., but it is cultural.
As you note, Chatelot16, the reduction of its consumption is often not desired, but results from simple economic necessities.

An article on Terra Eco:

Spray sulfur into the atmosphere, capture CO2 in the ambient air… A handful of engineers, industrialists and politicians have joined forces to make these methods accepted, yesterday seen as far-fetched. Their goal: to manipulate a racing climate.

A pinch of sulfur dioxide particles sprayed into the atmosphere to reflect solar radiation and voila: a degree or two gained. Science fiction? Not even. We (...)

On the photo at the bottom left we note the presence Edward Teller incidentally father of the American H-bomb and promoter of diplomacy through "vitrification"! :|

How to cool the planet?
Issue of 05/11/2014

There is "little time" left to avoid the "serious, widespread and irreversible" effects of global warming. This is the main conclusion of the fifth report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, released on Sunday and more alarmist than ever. According to world climate experts, the planet is warming at an unprecedented rate and greenhouse gas emissions have broken record after record in recent years to reach a concentration in the atmosphere unmatched for 800 years.

The international community has set itself the objective of keeping the overall rise in temperatures below the 2 ° C threshold, in order to limit the impacts of climate change already at work. But to achieve this, the IPCC recommends acting quickly and reducing global emissions of CO2, methane or nitrous oxide by 40 to 70% between 2010 and 2050, to make them disappear by 2100. Which involves massively diverting from fossil energy sources towards renewable energies, such as wind, solar or nuclear; strengthen energy savings, limit deforestation and invest hundreds of billions of dollars in it by 2030. Otherwise, global warming will continue to pose an increasingly serious threat to biodiversity and food security and the health of mankind, scientists say.

More frequent floods, storms, rising waters, sharply rising temperatures, drought, food shortages, increased displacement of populations and conflicts ... to fight against global warming and its consequences, the United Nations Secretary-General called on the international community to mobilize and spoke out against "the myth" that "acting for the climate will be costly". "I can tell you that not taking action will cost more, much more." European leaders, who intend to lead by example, pledged on October 24 to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030.

It is clear that in the face of the "unwillingness" of political leaders in the face of activities harming the biosphere, geoengineering appears like a plaster on a wooden leg ... and a clever means of creating a new extremely lucrative market. $$$$$!

Well unfortunately I believe that this is the solution that is looming on the horizon ...

The capitalist man does not know how to make preventive (or little), he prefers the paying curative!

Except that the "paying cure" only attacks the symptoms and does, at best, only prolong the pain ...

The solution has been known since the 80s at least: the spreading of particles allowing to increase the albedo (reflecting power of a surface) of the Earth's atmosphere.
it is the only credible solution in terms of efficiency, the fertilization of the oceans with iron having been a bitter failure.
